Kamala Harris says border ‘is secure’ in painfully awkward, stench filled Meet the Press clip

Vice President Kamala Harris boldly declared on national television Sunday that the southern border with Mexico is “secure,” never mind that the Federation for American Immigration Reform estimates that 4.9 million illegal immigrants have crossed the border since President Biden took office some 20 months ago.

The slaughtering of the truth was so egregious that even the ever-reliable Democratic ally Chuck Todd balked at the claim.

“I think that there is no question that we have to do what the president and I asked Congress to do, the first request we made: pass a bill to create a pathway to citizenship,” Harris said when Todd asked if the border is secure. “The border is secure, but we also have a broken immigration system, in particular, over the last four years before we came in, and it needs to be fixed.”

In effect, she was blaming Donald Trump for the Biden administration’s open border policies that have enticed historic levels of illegal immigrant traffic.

“We’re going to have two million people cross this border for the first time ever,” the host of NBC’s “Meet The Nation” reminded her. “You’re confident this border’s secure?”

“We have a secure border in that that is a priority for any nation, including ours and our administration,” Harris said.

The nonsensical reply meaning that the border is secure simply because the White House says securing the border is a priority. The vice president quickly returned to her blame Trump talking points.

“But there are still a lot of problems that we are trying to fix given the deterioration that happened over the last four years,” she said. “We also have to put into place a law and a plan for a pathway for citizenship for the millions of people who are here and are prepared to do what is legally required to gain citizenship. We don’t have that in place because people are playing politics in a state like this and in Congress.”

When Harris can’t convince Todd to buy into her propaganda, it may be time to reassess.

And it’s not like the NBC host didn’t do his best to set her up for success, having reminded viewers that the vice president has been “tasked with some intractable assignments, from enacting national voting reform to solving the immigration crisis at the border.” Todd did note that critics have said Harris has failed here, but he also said she was “well-positioned to become president some day.”

In marking the anniversary of 9/11, Todd said the Islamic terrorists were “attacking our democracy” before referencing the Jan. 6, 2021 protest, saying the U.S. Capital “came under attack from domestic terrorists.”

“We’re now as a nation battling a threat from within. Is the threat equal or greater than what we faced after 9/11?” he asked, comparing the two events.

“I think it is very dangerous and I think it is very harmful. And it makes us weaker,” the vice president replied, making no distinction between the two.

Yet, it was the ease in which Harris lies that really stood out online… here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story from Twitter:
