Former Vice President Kamala Harris has some surprising advice for Democrats expected to retake the House in the coming weeks.
The midterm elections are predicted to result in Democrats regaining control of the House, with many assuming this newfound power will result in impeachment attempts by leftists opposed to President Donald Trump. That’s where Harris is warning them to pump the brakes.
Watch:
Kamala Harris: I think that going in the direction of impeachment is not a good idea.
We have limited resources, and I think the energy and the resources need to be put into accountability, need to be put into investigations. And that’s where the time should be spent.
I was in the Senate for the last go-round, and the votes aren’t there.
I think after the election, we all have to just also agree that our attitude has to be to get stuff done…

Speaking to Aaron Parnas of MeidasTouch on Tuesday, Harris was asked what advice she would give to congressional leaders heading into the second half of Trump’s second and last term.
“What would your recommendation be to leadership in Congress? Would it be to go the investigations route and potentially an impeachment one day? Or would it be, go pass policy and force the president to veto it?” Parnas wondered.
“I think that going in the direction of impeachment is not a good idea, just to be honest with you,” Harris replied frankly. “Just because we have limited resources and I think the energy and the resources need to be put into accountability, need to be put into investigations. And that’s where the time should be spent.”
Her concern is that the impeachment would never receive the 67 votes necessary for a conviction, and would therefore be an unwise utilization of the scarce resources available to the party.
“You know, remember, I was in the Senate for the last go-round, and the votes aren’t there. So, that’s how I feel, but you know, also I think after the election, we all have to just also agree that our attitude has to be to get stuff done,” she said. “And the tone and our kind of orientation around it has to be kind of ruthless. You know, they’re ruthless, but they’re cruel. And when I say we should be ruthless, I don’t mean cruel, but we should be uncompromising.”
“Like, not sit around, you know, being genteel about the relationships and instead actually get stuff done, whether it be about accountability or restoring, for example, what they took in terms of the Medicaid cuts, restoring what we need to do around some check-and-balance around this war nobody wants. And there’s no time to wait,” she added.
