President Joe Biden is under intense pressure from his party’s base to force Israel into a ceasefire in Gaza and one of those who is lobbying hard on behalf of the Palestinian side is reportedly Vice President Kamala Harris.
According to a report from Politico, the veep “has been telling colleagues in the administration that she wants the White House to show more concern publicly for the humanitarian damage in Gaza” and has urged her boss to “show more sensitivity to Palestinian civilians,” citing three anonymous sources “familiar with Harris’ comments.”
The outlet reports that one person close to Harris’ office says that she is calling for Biden to be “tougher” on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu who has been a frequent target of anger from the antisemitic left, including from congressional Democrats, especially the group of Israel haters known as “The Squad” who have demanded action from the president.

One source said that Harris wants him to be “more forceful at seeking a long-term peace and two-state solution,” both of which would be a huge win for the Hamas terror organization that Netanyahu has vowed to wipe out.
The report comes as “Genocide Joe” appears to be buckling to leftists on his “unwavering” support for Israel with remarks this week in which he seemed to call for a shakeup in Netanyahu’s government, a sign that he’s going squishy on America’s important Middle East ally.
“I think he has to change, and with this government, this government in Israel is making it very difficult for him to move,” Biden reportedly told Democrat donors, describing Netanyahu’s regime as the “most conservative government in Israel’s history.”
Biden also suggested that the Jewish nation is losing world support over the ongoing operation to eliminate the terrorist presence in Gaza in response to the barbaric October 7th attacks by Hamas on civilian areas in which over a thousand Israelis were slaughtered, including babies, women and children who were butchered in their own homes.
Biden reportedly said that the Jewish democracy “has most of the world supporting it,” but added, “they’re starting to lose that support by the indiscriminate bombing that takes place.”
During remarks at a White House Hanukkah reception on Monday night, Biden cryptically told those in attendance that “The whole world’s public opinion can shift overnight,” regarding Israel.
The Politico report of a rift between the deeply unpopular president and his even more disliked veep was blasted by Harris’ spokesperson as fake news.
As I told Politico a week ago, “there is no daylight between the President and Vice President nor has there been,” and media should be cautious and discerning about including anonymous “sources” who are not privy to their private conversations. https://t.co/c0ZvrcG46Y

According to Politico, “Harris urged Biden to make sure he condemned Islamophobia at the same time as he spoke out against anti-Semitism. The Washington Post reported last month that Harris ‘suggested’ Biden add a line denouncing Islamophobia in his Oct. 10 speech on the outbreak of war.”
Last month, Harris announced the White House’s “first ever” national strategy to combat Islamophobia at a time when Jews are under attack as never before as pro-Hamas antisemites including members of Congress have openly accused Israel of genocide, emboldening the worst elements of the domestic left.
Taking on hate is a national priority.

Despite denials of a rift between Biden and his 2024 running mate, pro-Palestinian advocates are optimistic that Harris could be lobbying against Israel.
“She’s using stronger language regarding the Israelis needing to not harm civilians,” Wa’el Alzayat, the CEO of Emgage, a Muslim advocacy group is quoted by Politico. “She’s a woman of color who is attuned to various racial and social justice issues so this might be a reflection of that.”
