Vice President Kamala Harris will officially be the first sitting VP to appear on RuPaul’s Drag Race.
Harris is set to appear on the RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 9 finale that will air Friday, turning it into a quick campaign spot. While the episode was filmed prior to President Joe Biden stepping out of the race and instead nominating Harris as his successor, the VP’s message will center around getting out to vote in November.
“Hi everyone, it’s Kamala Harris. Each day, we’re seeing our rights and freedoms under attack, including the right of everyone to be who they are, love who they love — openly and with pride,” said Kamala. “So as we fight back against these attack, let’s remember we’re all in this together. And your vote is your power, so make sure your voice is heard this November.”

Harris will appear alongside judge Michelle Visage, Lance Bass, Cheyenne Jackson, Drag Race choreographer Jamal Sims, and actress Leslie Jones.
X users had a lot to say about this “first”:
Wait.
Is this the first time an undemocratically installed candidate appeared on a popular reality show?

I like VP Harris, but the first VP to appear on some specific television show counts as “making history”?

Nice to see she’s treating her campaign as seriously as her job as “Border Czar.” pic.twitter.com/00ZQlKowkq

I don’t know if vapid immaturity will win her votes, but I guess she has to play to her strengths.

Of course, Kamala Harris is going to make history by appearing on RuPaul’s Drag Race. Don’t forget that decency is on the ballot! pic.twitter.com/LTwlsXkY3a
