White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt lit up former President Barack Obama for spreading lies about the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act (SAVE), which would bolster election integrity by requiring picture identification to vote.
Democrats are frantic to prevent the SAVE Act from passing, which it will do unless the usual handful of RINOs in the Senate refuse to do the right thing, and they have deployed the party’s biggest gun to whip up panic and urge its followers to pressure senators to vote against it.
But while Obama may be a big gun, he’s an even bigger hypocrite, and President Donald J. Trump’s top spox called him out on Thursday.

“You know how badly the Democrats are panicking when they bring out Obama to spread lies about voter ID. The fact is that nearly 90% of voters support: Requiring government-issued photo ID to vote. Requiring proof of citizenship when registering to vote for the first time,” Leavitt wrote on X, sharing the results of polls showing that Americans overwhelmingly approve of photo ID being required at the polls.
“Republicans are still trying to pass the SAVE Act—a bill that would make it harder to vote and disenfranchise millions of Americans,” Obama wrote in a Wednesday post to X, directing his followers to a website with an e-form that can be filled out and sent to members of Congress.
In a second post, Leavitt served up proof of the duplicitous Democrats’ hypocrisy with a video of Obama showing up to vote in a past election and having absolutely no problem in showing his own ID, even though he is one of the most recognizable people in America.

“Here is Barack Obama showing his photo ID to vote in a past election. Why are Democrats in Congress so opposed to making this a requirement across the country? Voter ID laws are common sense,” she wrote.
The SAVE Act passed the House on Wednesday. If the Senate votes to approve it, the new requirements could be in place by the November midterms, complicating Democrat efforts to steal seats.
“Barack Obama and the rest of the Democrats think Americans are stupid, which is why they are blatantly lying about the commonsense election integrity provisions in the popular SAVE Act,” White House spokesperson Taylor Rogers told Fox News Digital.
“Americans need to show ID to buy alcohol, get on a plane, and even get into the Democratic National Convention — but these hypocrite Democrats don’t want voters to show their ID to cast a ballot. Congressional Democrats’ opposition to the SAVE America Act is indefensible and wildly out of step with the views of the American people,” Rogers said.
