FBI Director Kash Patel angrily responded to a hit piece alleging that he improperly used a government jet to travel to see his “country music sensation” girlfriend Alexis Wilkins perform the national anthem at a Penn State University wrestling event.
The Bulwark, an anti-Trump opinion website co-founded by arch-neocon propagandist Bill Kristol and grifting “conservative’ radio host Charlie Sykes, cited an X post by Patel critic Kyle Seraphin who shared flight logs showing the plane “took off from a northern Virginia airport, then landed at State College, Pennsylvania’s regional airport near the campus, right around the time Patel was headed there.”
Wilkins posted pics of herself and the FBI boss after the October 25 Real American Freestyle (RAF) pro-wrestling event.

“This past Saturday, FBI Director Kash Patel traveled to Penn State, not to announce new findings from the agency’s sports gambling investigations, or as part of the search for Jimmy Hoffa’s remains, but as a boyfriend supporting his girlfriend’s work,” the Bulwark wrote in its piece, which was dripping with snark.
“Seraphin noted that a government jet that took off from a northern Virginia airport, then landed at State College, Pennsylvania’s regional airport near the campus, right around the time Patel was headed there. The FBI didn’t respond to a request for comment,” according to the outlet. “But the jet is registered with the FAA as government-owned, with its owner’s address as the FBI’s Washington headquarters. Earlier that week, the jet traveled from Washington to Philadelphia, an itinerary that matches Patel’s appearance at a press conference in that city.”
In a Sunday X post, Patel ripped the report and what he described as “disgustingly baseless attacks against Alexis — a true patriot,” defending the work of the FBI, which is “taking violent criminals off the streets in record numbers, crushing the fentanyl crisis, dismantling cartels, saving children, hunting down terrorists — and so much more.”

“Let me be clear: we will not be distracted by baseless rumors or the noise from uninformed internet anarchists and the fake news,” the post read. “I’ve always said — criticize me all you want. But going after the people doing great work, my personal life, or those around me is a total disgrace.”
“The disgustingly baseless attacks against Alexis — a true patriot and the woman I’m proud to call my partner in life — are beyond pathetic. She is a rock-solid conservative and a country music sensation who has done more for this nation than most will in ten lifetimes. I’m so blessed she’s in my life,” the FBI chief continued.
“Attacking her isn’t just wrong — it’s cowardly and jeopardizes our safety. My love of family will always be my cornerstone, and you will never tear that down or keep me from them,” he wrote, adding, “And to our supposed allies staying silent — your silence is louder than the clickbait haters.”
Fallout over the hit piece has reportedly claimed the job of a top FBI official who oversees aviation units and who had been at the Bureau for 27 years.
According to Bloomberg Law, which cites the now standard anonymous sources, Steven Palmer was “forced out” after Patel “grew outraged about revelations of his publicly available jet logs indicating he’d flown to see his musician girlfriend perform.”
“FBI directors are required to use government aircraft for personal or business travel in order to maintain secure communications,” the outlet reported. “But public attention of Patel’s weekend outing—fueled by an X post from a former FBI agent turned outspoken Patel critic—comes after Patel had criticized predecessors for personal travel on taxpayer-funded jets.”
