Outgoing “Republican” Rep. Adam Kinzinger has accused Christian Republicans of worshipping former President Donald Trump instead of God.
He made the accusation during an appearance in April at the widely panned “Disinformation and the Erosion of Democracy” conference, but it’s just now seeing the light of day thanks to him tweeting out a clip from it Friday.
The clip shows him ranting about how Christian churches have allegedly become MAGA churches thanks to the influence of Trump.
Watch:
It’s been said that a faith that makes losing a sin will make cheating a sacrament. That leadership crisis has spread from DC into our daily lives and even our churches. When leaders refuse to stand up for truth and reject toxic division, we begin to replace God with idols. pic.twitter.com/wK6DqdySGB

“There are a number of churches that have basically become, you know, from a house of worship of Christ and of God to a house of worship of Donald Trump. And if I look in the New Testament and the words of Jesus, it was all about not being involved in government. There’s nothing wrong with being involved in government. But not living your life obsessed with it. It’s about humans,” he says in the clip.
“And I think the church played a huge role in how we got to where we are. I say the church generically. And I think the church will have to play a huge leadership role in getting us out of this moment,” Kinzinger continues.
“We need pastors, we need priests, we need leaders who are going to stand up in front of the pulpit and say we welcome Democrats in this audience as well, and we’re not going to sit here and worship Donald Trump because he’s a very flawed man. In fact, all men are flawed. Instead, we’re going to talk about what matters, which is human souls and government. You go do your own thing when it comes to government.”

It’s not clear what in the world he was talking about.
While some church pastors have expressed public support for Trump, there isn’t a single example of a veritable Trump church where Trump, not God, is worshipped.
It’s also not clear which churches apparently ban Democrats from attending. Though as noted by one critic, if there is such a church, in their defense many Democrats’ entire belief system is anathema to religious teachings.
Plus, Democrats have made it their mission to continually attack religions and churches by forcing them to accept things that violate their beliefs.
O well maybe if Dems didn’t attack religion every chance they got churches wouldn’t rally against them. Tell me what again is the Dem position on abortions?

Ironic you and your “supporters” are spreading hate yet you feel the need to instruct Church’s. You are wolf in sheeps clothing…Fraud.

Which ones? Can you name any or is this just another BS lie. Name one. When was the last time you attended church? What church? Is it that one or are you just a liar? #2000MulesMovie

So you are just another Democrat in a republican seat who does not believe that we were created as a nation “under God”. Trump has nothing to do with the decades of war on the church. A “man of faith’ would clearly see that. Our politicians claim to have faith, correct?

Where does the political left stand on issues of the church? Do they respect the First Amendment rights of religious people? I would say no. Democrats are always welcome in the church. They are loved and respected, but Dem politicians all fall in line against Christian churches.

Some suspect Kinzinger’s rant was motivated by his own family troubles.
Kinzinger voted to impeach then-President Donald Trump and in early 2021, several of his family members penned a public letter denouncing him as a fake Christian.
“Oh my, what a disappointment you are to us and to God! We were once so proud of your accomplishments! Instead, you go against your Christian principles and join the ‘devil’s army’ (Democrats and the fake new media). How do you call yourself a Christian when you join the ‘devil’s army’ believing in abortion? We thought you were ‘smart’ enough to see how the left is brainwashing so many ‘so called good people’ including yourself and many other GOP members. You have even fallen for their socialism ideals! So, so sad!” the letter read.
“President Trump is not perfect, but neither are you or any of us for that matter! It is not for us to judge or be judged! But he is a Christian! (If God can forgive and use King David in the Bible, He can do the same with President Trump.) Franklin Graham, Robert Jeffress, to just name a few, of many Pastors, who mentor President Trump, know that he is a believer! Obviously, you did not hear President Trump’s “Christmas Message” to the American people (fake news media did not cover his message) where he actually gave the plan of salvation, instructing people how to repent and ask the Savior into their heart to be “Born Again”! (To believe in John 3:16),” the letter continued.
REPORT: 11 family members of Rep. Adam Kinzinger sent him a letter saying, “You have embarrassed the Kinzinger family name!”
The letter was sent certified mail to Mr. Kinzinger’s father — to make sure the congressman would see it, NYT reports. pic.twitter.com/ra2v3VMvND

“When was the last time you proclaimed your faith Adam? (Oh, we forgot you now belong to the “devils army.”). You won’t convince us otherwise with your horrible, rude accusations of President Trump! (To embrace a party that believes in abortion and socialism is the ultimate sin.) We should list even more grievances against you, but decided you ae (sic) not worth more of our time to list them. We have said enough!”
