White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was caught off-guard when confronted by reporters on why President Biden was wearing a mask as he stepped off Marine One recently, stumbling over her answer and then attempting to deflect from the question.

“Well — that’s a — I don’t know. I did not notice that, that he — we all wore our masks on Marine One,” Jean-Pierre haltingly answered as reporters noted that they do not often see Biden wearing a mask when he disembarks the aircraft.
Instead of directly addressing the question, Jean-Pierre noted that she was wearing a mask as well.
“So can you tell us — was he exposed to someone? Or can you talk about that?” the reporter asked her.
Again, the press secretary deflected, telling the reporter that Biden just tested negative for COVID on an antigen test.

“Well, I can — I can tell you this: Yesterday, he tested negative on an antigen test for COVID-19. He tested negative. So, that part I know. So, I can share that with you right now,” she said, hoping the non-answer would suffice while dismissing out of hand the mask inquiries.
“But I think just out of — I mean, you’re wearing a mask. I’m wearing a mask. Some of your colleagues here are wearing a mask,” Jean-Pierre awkwardly went on.
“But he usually doesn’t on…” the reporter interjected.
“It’s not something that I noticed. I always try to have a mask and follow the CDC guidance — right? — guidelines. When it comes to transportation, we put on — we put on a mask. I just don’t have anything more to share,” the press secretary stated.

The female reporter doggedly asked Jean-Pierre if she would tell the media if Biden had been exposed to the virus.
The press secretary predictably responded, “Yeah, absolutely.”
“But I can confirm to you that he did — he did test pos- — negative. To be very clear: He tested negative,” Jean-Pierre reiterated nervously and then laughed.
“Tested negative…” the reporter stated.
“Negative! Yesterday,” the press secretary laughed again.
Biden has worn a mask on and off after the pandemic has pretty much petered out. He and first lady Jill Biden wore masks to an event at a children’s hospital just before Christmas.
The Democrats refuse to let the Covid pandemic go. It is now a part of their political DNA.

The president sends mixed signals on the issue and is not consistent about mask-wearing. He reportedly violated CDC guidelines in August when he failed to wear a mask after testing positive for COVID.
“’CDC guidance suggests that he wear a mask when he’s around others,’ Ashish Jha, the White House COVID response coordinator said July 25. ‘The president is going to follow CDC guidance,’” Breitbart noted at the time.
“But Joe Biden went on national television Monday evening without a mask after testing positive Saturday. On Tuesday afternoon, Biden again tested positive with ‘a return of a loose cough,’ the White House stated,” according to the media outlet.
Some school districts in California, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania are reportedly forcing children to wear masks again as they head back to classrooms after Christmas break.

Current CDC recommendations encourage wearing a mask during air travel or public transportation for those aged 2 and older, specifically a “high-quality mask or respirator over the nose and mouth.” But it is not required.
