The winner of the World’s Strongest Woman competition was stripped of their title after it was discovered that the “lady” is a dude.
American competitor Jammie Booker, a man, initially won the competition on Sunday, prompting sarcasm from critics and anger from his female competitors:
Many congratulations to Jammie Booker, who has won the World’s Strongest Woman competition in Arlington, Texas. The fact Jammie is a biological male with a massive physical advantage over the actual women competing shouldn’t detract from this well-earned victory! pic.twitter.com/b40TGGIZAU

Jammie Booker, a man pretending to be a woman, just won the title of “World’s Strongest Woman” at the World’s Strongest Woman competition in Arlington, Texas.
Andrea Thompson, the female runner-up, had her title stolen by a man.

But after Booker won the competition, word emerged that the Official Strongman organizers didn’t know that Booker is a man.
Everything changed early Monday morning when explicit, pornographic online content of Booker went viral.
“It was coming from an adult entertainment website — let’s put it that way,” Andrea Thompson, the original second-place winner, said, according to the New York Post. “Very explicit pictures and videos of this person, which then obviously put her gender into question.”
Afterward, Rebecca Roberts, a three-time winner of the World’s Strongest Woman competition, published an Instagram post calling out the competition for having chosen a man as the winner.
“Transgender women, people born male, should not be competing in the women’s category,” Roberts wrote in the post. “This isn’t about identity. It isn’t about politics. It’s about the undeniable physical differences that exist in strength-based sports… differences that don’t disappear, and that matter more here than almost anywhere else.”
“Women’s categories were created for a reason, and if we lose that, we lose the foundation of our sport. What happened this weekend wasn’t transparent. None of us knew. Not even the organisers knew. And when fairness is taken by surprise, trust in the sport begins to crack,” she added.

The organizers of the World’s Strongest Woman apparently took note, because they published their own Instagram post on Tuesday announcing Booker’s disqualification from the competition.
“It appears that an athlete who is biologically male and who now identifies as female competed in the Women’s Open category,” they wrote. “Official Strongman officials were unaware of this fact ahead of the competition and we have been urgently investigating since being informed. An attempt has been made to contact the competitor involved but a response has not been received.”
“Had we been aware, or had this been declared at any point before or during the competition, this athlete would not have been permitted to compete in the Woman’s Open category. We are clear – competitors can only compete in the category for the biological sex recorded at birth,” they added.
The organizers concluded the post by announcing Booker’s disqualification and seemingly slamming him for having entered the competition on false pretenses.
“We are disappointed on behalf of all those who fairly and legitimately took part that the attention has been taken away from their efforts which deserve celebration, no matter how they performed or where they finished. We stand with them and stand with fairness.”

Following Booker’s disqualification, Thompson, the original second-place winner, was rightly crowned the World’s Strongest Woman. She celebrated the victory but also bemoaned all the controversy.
“What should be a momentous occasion has sadly been overshadowed by scandal and dishonesty from someone who was welcomed into our crazy sport,” she wrote in an Instagram post of her own.
“I am not only frustrated with not being able to celebrate a win, but also for the ladies who had their time to shine on the podium or reach the final day, taken away from them,” she added.
Thompson also mentioned facing harassment from pro-trans activists.
“My fellow competitors have since received backlash and insults for just being women,” she wrote. “They are mentally drained by defending themselves from unwanted opinions. This needs to stop.”
