Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Colo., responded to a bizarre allegation that she had inappropriate relationships with several staffers.
The dubious claim specifically alleges the lawmaker had affairs with three staff members, including two women, but she says that no such thing ever happened.
“Well, I’m not a lesbian or bisexual, and I have never, ever been in any inappropriate relationship, nor have I ever been sexually involved with any staff,” Boebert told Sources Say News after the claims became public.
The rep’s office dismissed the allegations as “utterly false” and, according to the New York Post, “Boebert has had a restraining order against the man behind the complaint, American Muckrakers’ leader David Wheeler, since 2022.”
“Congresswoman Lauren Boebert rejects these allegations as utterly false and there is no truth to them whatsoever. This is nothing more than a politically motivated stunt designed to manipulate the ethics process, create headlines, smear her, and generate clickbait,” said a spokesperson. “They come from an activist who has long recycled sensational claims, including numerous baseless accusations previously fact-checked as false.”
Wheeler filed the claim with the House Ethics Committee on Tuesday, which prohibits lawmakers from having sexual relationships with their staffers.
“It alleges that Boebert had flings with her former district director Clarice Navarro Ratzlaff and two other staffers that it implied were former chief of staff Jeffrey Small and current chief of staff Raven Finegan. But the complaint itself gives very few details about the accusations revolving around Small and Finegan,” The Post reported.
“Wheeler alleges that Boebert’s fling with Navarro Ratzlaff began in 2021 and lasted through her tenure. But Navarro Ratzlaff has strenuously denied that, telling the Colorado Times Recorder that the accusations are ‘entirely false, defamatory, and beyond ridiculous. There is absolutely no truth to any part of this claim,'” the outlet noted.
Additionally, Wheeler claims there is video of Navarro Ratzlaff and Boebert fighting in Aspen after the infamous movie theater incident involving the lawmaker’s now-former boyfriend, Democrat Quinn Gallagher. He admitted that he did not have any such video, however, but says many “sources” have important pieces of evidence corroborating his allegations, such as texts, bank records, recorded conversations and even court records.
There is even a claim that Navarro Ratzlaff and Boebert had a threesome with former Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida, who responded to the allegation with humor in an X post last week.
