Law enforcement confirms ‘QAnon Shaman’ Jacob Chansley called FBI day after Jan 6 protest

As calls continue to grow demanding the release of the so-called “QAnon Shaman” based on Jan. 6 footage first aired by Fox News host Tucker Carlson, a new video is making the rounds purported to be the phone call Jacob Chansley made to the FBI to confirm his identity.

The day after the breach of the Capitol, Jan. 7, 2021, as corporate media continued their wall-to-wall coverage of documenting the protest as an attempted coup and insurrection featuring a face-paint-covered, horn-capped, bare-chested and tattooed man as the poster boy for right-wing extremism, Chansley was calling into the authorities to identify himself and open a line of communication.

A Statement of Facts produced by a special agent with the U.S. Capitol Police assigned to the Criminal Investigations Section directed toward U.S. Magistrate Judge G. Michael Harvey established as much on Jan. 8, 2021, and a video attributed to the “Forbidden Truth” podcast purports to contain snippets of that call.

“The reason for the call is because I heard y’all are looking for me…I’m the dude that was in the horns in the Capitol building,” said a man believed to be Chansley, wearing a suit and tie along with an American flag-patterned bandana and sunglasses. “So I thought I’d call and nip it in the bud.”

Explaining how he was being described as a “person of interest” guilty of “unlawful entry of the Senate,” Chansley respectfully said, “I’m not the type of guy that is gonna, like, run and hide. I don’t do that. I don’t believe in that. I’m a bold man. I believe in the truth. I believe in my faith in God and country, and so I’m calling to see what y’all would like to talk about.”

By the end of the call, he is given a number, presumably to the FBI Washington Field Office, and he politely ends the conversation, “God bless you, sir, and thank you for your service.”

Part 2 of the video features him appearing to speak to the Washington Field Office saying much the same without including further specifics or the identity of who was on the other line.

After producing a summary timeline of the events of Jan. 6, the special agent Statement of Facts notes that YouTube videos on Chansley’s channel were used to confirm the likeness along with his “Arizona DMV driver’s license photo.”

“In addition, on January 7, 2021, CHANSLEY called in to the Washington Field Office of the FBI, to voluntarily speak with law enforcement,” the statement read. “Your affiant and an FBI agent spoke on the phone with CHANSLEY, who confirmed that he was the male in the face paint and headdress in the Vice President’s chair in the Senate. CHANSLEY state that he came as a part of a group effort, with other ‘patriots’ from Arizona, at the request of the President that all ‘patriots’ come to D.C. on January 6, 2021.”

This unconfirmed video follows previous footage that depicted the man being escorted through the Capitol building by officers who appeared to be helping him find his way to the Senate floor as well as him standing outside, reading the tweet from then-President Donald Trump asking everyone to peacefully go home. The latter was shared by billionaire Elon Musk who stated, “Free Jacob Chansley.”

It remains to be seen what may come of Chansley, but as Julie Kelly of American Greatness pointed out, “No way in hell there was a legit investigation let alone a full vetting of the evidence” prior to his indictment five days after the breach.

“Jan 6 was Wednesday. Grand jury convened on Friday, Jan 8. Chansley 1st J6er indicted by grand jury on Monday, Jan 11 on ‘obstruction of an official proceeding,’ a post-Enron law never intended to criminalize political dissent (as [President George W. Bush] said when signing the law)” she went on adding a banana emoji before the word “republic.”
