Elon Musk jumps in the fray over reaction to LeBron James’ teen son suffering cardiac arrest

Healthy 18-year-olds are not supposed to be having heart attacks, but that’s part of the post-pandemic world we live in.

Bronny James, son of NBA player LeBron James, was rushed to a hospital after suffering cardiac arrest during a basketball workout, TMZ Sports reported Tuesday morning.

Citing sources with direct knowledge, the outlet said a 911 call was made at 9:26 a.m. Monday from the University of Southern California’s athletic facility. Bronny, a freshman who plays for USC, was said to be unconscious when taken by ambulance to the hospital.

“Yesterday while practicing Bronny James suffered a cardiac arrest. Medical staff was able to treat Bronny and take him to the hospital. He is now in stable condition and no longer in ICU. We ask for respect and privacy for the James family and we will update media when there is more information,” a James family spokesperson told TMZ Sports.

Bronny is currently in stable condition after a brief stretch in the intensive care unit, according to the Los Angeles Times, which cited a family spokesperson.

Remarkably, Bronny is not the first USC player to suffer cardiac arrest.

The Times reported: “This is the second time in the last year that the USC medical staff has responded to a men’s basketball player suffering cardiac arrest during practice. Center Vince Iwuchukwu collapsed at a practice last summer and was revived by USC athletic trainers. He made a full recovery and returned to the basketball court six months later.”

Iwuchukwu was 19 at the time.

“By the grace of God, I came back,” he said. “I [owe] my life to those coaches and the training staff that were there to help me.”

It has been less than a year since NFL player Demar Hamlin, who played for the Buffalo Bills, suffered cardiac arrest on the field of play after tackling a player on Monday Night Football. Trainers were forced to perform CPR as players from both teams were overcome by emotion. Hamlin, who was 24 at the time, has fully recovered.

Social media users were willing to go where few authorities will go and address the elephant in the room…including ‘X’ CEO Elon Musk who caused a stir with his take on the news:
