A suggestion to add President Donald Trump to American currency is not sitting well with social media users.
Like many other countries in the world, the United States has put the faces of leaders on our currency. Now, Republican Rep. Brandon Gill, R – Texas, is introducing legislation that would replace Benjamin Franklin’s face on the $100 bill with Trump’s. He says he believes that the 47th president’s legacy “deserves to be immortalized” and what better way to do that than put him on American currency?

America is experiencing an historic rebirth under President Trump—his legacy deserves to be immortalized.

“I’m introducing the GOLDEN AGE ACT to put President Donald J. Trump on the $100 bill. America is experiencing an historic rebirth under President Trump—his legacy deserves to be immortalized. Washington. Lincoln. Reagan. TRUMP. It’s time to make history,” he wrote in a post on X.
In a statement to Fox News Digital, Gill expanded on his proposal and the respect he has for Trump.
“President Trump could be enjoying his golden years golfing and spending time with his family,” he said. “Instead, he took a bullet for this country and is now working overtime to secure our border, fix our uneven trade relationship with the rest of the world, make America energy independent again and put America first by ending useless foreign aid.”
He noted that such a change would be a “small way to honor all he will accomplish these next four years.”
X users did not react well to the suggestion:
Sir, Ben Franklin literally invented electricity and freedom when he was president. President Trump invented bankruptcy.

I have an idea.
How about we STOP wasting time on LITERAL VANITY PROJECTS that will cost taxpayers $100 million to implement.
Why don’t you get back to us when the budget deficit is below a TRILLION DOLLARS?!

Dude can you focus on fixing the economy and not stupid performative shit like this? You guys are seriously fucking useless, and proving it at every chance, with great glee and enthusiasm.
I can’t wait for you to get wiped out in the midterms for this.https://t.co/av70ojx9HN

Introduce a BAN SOROS BILL instead if you really want to change things in America. Soros is our biggest threat by far. @potus @WhiteHouse

Really hope this is a troll, because this idea is incredibly stupid.
You wanna do something for Trump that’s actually meaningful? Codify his EOs into law so that the next Democrat president can’t come in and just undo everything on day one.

This is asinine and a waste of taxpayers’ time and money. You weren’t elected to be an ass kisser.
Pass a balanced budget, reduce the deficit, and maybe codify some of Trump’s policies into law ensuring they can’t be undone by the stroke of the pen from a future President.— The Narcissist Element (@seeemmeffell) March 3, 2025
