Leftists come unglued over Demi Moore’s realistic take on AI boom

Hollywood actress Demi Moore is facing backlash from anti-tech Luddites for standing up for artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

Speaking at the Cannes Film Festival this week, the actress defended AI and its use in Hollywood, according to Deadline Hollywood.

“AI is here, and so to fight it is to, in a sense, to fight something that is a battle that we will lose,” she said. “So to find ways in which we can work with it, I think, is a more valuable path. Are we doing enough to protect ourselves? I don’t know. My inclination would be to say probably not.”

She also made a point of paying tribute to AI’s more positive aspects.

“There’s beautiful aspects of being able to utilize it, but the truth is, there really isn’t anything to fear, because what it can never replace is what true art comes from, which is not the physical,” she said.

“It comes from the soul. It comes from the spirit of each and every one of us sitting here, to each and every one of us that creates every day, and that they can never recreate,” she added.

The backlash to her remarks has been intense, with Luddites, particularly leftists, leading the charge with accusations of “fascism.”

“Demi Moore having the gall to speak this fascist propaganda of about it being useless to fight against AI, next to Park Chan-wook is wild to me if you understand anything about his work, and after her being in a film about how wealthy white men use women in the film industry,” one hater wrote somewhere on social media, according to Fox News.

In fairness, there are some on the right, such as commentator Matt Walsh, who’ve also raised concerns about AI. The difference is conservatives like Walsh aren’t calling for an outright ban on AI like leftist Luddites.

In Walsh’s case, he simply worries about unrestrained AI and believes regulations are needed.

“I’m not against the technology itself,” he recently tweeted. “I think the technology is amazing, mind blowing. There are all kinds of totally valid and useful applications.”

“All I’m saying is that we are not wrestling at all with the implications, and there are no limitations of any kind being placed on these companies as they race towards their goal of fundamentally transforming human society overnight. Reckless in the extreme,” he added.

The left’s view on AI, meanwhile, is akin to their view on climate change: All of society must be reverted back to the Middle Ages because technology is mean and bad and evil and racist and blah, blah, blah.
