‘Let’s keep this respectful!’ CNN anchor takes offense when GOP analyst calls Hunter Biden a ‘scumbag’

When it comes to defending the depravity of the Biden family, there are few who have consistently had their backs like the Democratic party mouthpieces at CNN and when conservative analyst Scott Jennings accurately described Hunter Biden as being a “scumbag” he was promptly slapped down.

On Sunday morning’s edition of “State of the Union,” the panel was joined by Michael LaRosa, a former top aide to First Lady Jill Biden for a discussion of President Joe Biden’s long overdue acknowledgment of his four-year-old granddaughter which he did in a press release to a celebrity gossip outlet in a late Friday afternoon summer weekend news dump.

“Why now for the Bidens?” CNN anchor Kasie Hunt asked her guest, asking him to assist in understanding why the long wait from the Bidens. “And honestly, why did it take them so long?”

LaRosa, ever the dutiful soldier, replied. “Well, two things. First of all, I respect you as a journalist for having to ask the question, but it is a very gross and uncomfortable subject to talk about as it is.”

“Well, let’s not call a little girl gross,” Hunt said.

“No, no, no, no, no… I’m talking about the inter sanctum of a family and the privacy of what goes on in a family,” LaRosa responded. “And you’re right, that little girl, she should not be weaponized by the Republicans who are down there in Arkansas with conservative lawyers and conservative PR people and posting on their Instagram. They shouldn’t be weaponizing her, and everybody is welcome to make their own personal judgments on the Biden.”

“But it is it is frankly, they are family. They are family. A real family with real feelings, with real struggles and challenges,” he continued, downplaying Biden’s callous treatment of poor little Navy Joan Roberts. “Like every family, and I guarantee you that the more that the Republicans make this an issue, it will not work. Voters appreciate, voters relate to having struggles in their own families. They root for people with vulnerabilities. They root for people who understand and relate to them. And, you know, ultimately, the Bidens are real family, just like everyone else.”

“Sure. But Scott Jennings, the president has made being a family man a central part of his political identity,” Hunt said, turning the floor over to her conservative colleague.

“It’s not Republicans, with all due respect, who made Hunter Biden into a complete scumbag on this and other issues, the ignoring his own daughter, for four years and the president of the United States hanging up a stocking for the dog? And not for his seventh grandchild?” Jennings replied.

Hunt found the description of the sexual degenerate drug fiend who once had a torrid extramarital affair with his dead brother’s widow as a “scumbag” to be very objectionable, scolding her fellow panelist.

“Look, we cannot we can also have, we can also have sympathy for people who are struggling with addiction. Let’s keep this conversation respectful,” she said, falling back on the narrative that Hunter Biden is a recovering addict who deserves to be coddled by the press.

“I listen…. I totally agree. And you know where I’m from,” Jennings said. “A lot of families deal with addiction and you know who ends up picking up the pieces? The grandparents. And in this case, the grandparents would not acknowledge this little girl. It is offensive, but the bottom line is…”

“But they have now…,” Hunt cut him off.

Jennings sarcastically shot back, “Oh, what a hero. The polling must have been brutal. The polling must have been brutal.”

“No one’s ever questioned the heart and integrity of Joe Biden as a family man and as a human being, and the pain and suffering and loss that that man has been through, including the struggles he deals with,” LaRosa said, laying it on thick on behalf of the president.

Taking the conversation in a different but entirely predictable direction was CNN political contributor Karen Finney, a former senior advisor for Hillary Clinton’s doomed 2016 campaign, who was still steaming over Jennings’ calling out VP Kamala Harris’ big lie about slavery and the new Florida history teaching standards last Sunday morning.

“I think it is far more appalling to see Republicans this week, starting with you Scott, calling the vice president of the United States a liar” she ranted. “When it comes to the very real personal stories…I don’t need, you know, some you know… academic to tell me about the horrors of slavery, it’s in my own family.”

I know from my own family stories… you now have black conservatives who agree with her, are they liars too?” Finney asked, referring to several black Republicans including 2024 presidential hopeful Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) who have parroted the veep’s lies to attack Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis this week. “I think that conversation is far more troubling than an addict and a bad family situation.”

All in all, just another morning at CNN.
