Let’s remember why some Jan. 6 defendants deserve every penny of proposed compensation

President Donald Trump’s interest in compensating Jan. 6 participants can easily be explained by examining the evidence.

On Monday, the Trump administration announced the creation of a $1.7 billion compensation fund to be used to compensate those who were mistreated by the former Biden administration.

President Trump has made it clear he wants Jan. 6 participants to benefit from this fund, but why? To discern the reason, one needs only to flash back to a year ago when the Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz released a bombshell report.

As documented by Fox News host Jesse Watters below on Fox News’ “Jesse Watters Primetime,” the report revealed that Jan. 6 participants had included over two dozen so-called confidential human sources (CHSs), aka FBI informants/spies:

“The Justice Department just released the bombshell report that we’ve been waiting for,” Watters revealed in the clip above. “What actually happened on Jan. 6? The FBI had 26 confidential human sources there that day. Twenty-six!”

“Of the 26 confidential human sources who were in D.C. on Jan 6, four entered the Capitol during the riot. An additional 13 entered the restricted area around the Capitol. So more than a dozen FBI spies participated in the so-called insurrection,” he added.

This bombshell report contradicted what Biden-era FBI Director Christopher Wray told Congress in prior testimony. But it gets worse.

“According to the Inspector General report, the spies were feeding the FBI intel that said Jan. 6 was going to get a little hairy,” Watters explained. “But FBI headquarters did nothing about it and then lied to Congress and said they did.”

“So why did headquarters let Jan. 6 get so out of hand? And what were all these FBI spies doing that day and the days before? Were they riling everyone up like they did in the Gretchen Whitmer kidnapping plot?” he continued.

In the notorious Whitmer kidnapping case, the FBI’s so-called informants essentially manufactured the whole plot from start to finish, going so far as to even use “an FBI credit card to buy the ammo supplies.”

Watters also noted how both Democrats and their media allies greatly benefited from the Jan. 6 riot and its aftermath.

“Jan. 6 certainly benefited the media, the FBI, and the Democrats,” he said. “[It] humiliated Trump, got him impeached, criminalized the MAGA movement. Trump got indicted over Jan. 6. Remember, they tried to throw him in prison over this.”

“The Jan. 6 committee, it’s all Democrats did for two years. Why didn’t the committee find any of these [spies]? They did a one-sided investigation, teed up [then-Attorney General Merrick] Garland to charge Trump so they could run against a convicted felon,” he added.

But an even bigger culprit than the media was the Democrat-controlled FBI that perpetrated the Whitmer hoax and now this.

“The FBI knew what was in this report. They covered it up before the election. And then the director says he’s resigning the day before it comes out,” Watters said in frustration. “Give me a break. This kind of sliminess is why Trump nominated Kash Patel [as FBI director].”

And finally, Watters got to the crux of the story — the Jan. 6 defendants that were prosecuted by the Biden administration but are now teed up by the Trump administration for a very glorious payday.

“What does this report do to the Jan. 6 defendants?” he asked rhetorically. “None of the confidential informants were arrested or charged. These guys were right alongside everyone walking into the Capitol. But you’re in prison for years?”

Yep, and that’s exactly why compensating Jan. 6 participants — particularly the non-violent ones who were nevertheless targeted for severe prosecution, including conservative reporters — is so vital to the president and his top administration officials:

“This is reimbursing people that were horribly treated, horribly treated,” the president said during a recent presser. “It’s anti-weaponization. They’ve been weaponized. They’ve been, in some cases, imprisoned wrongly. They paid legal fees that they didn’t have. They’ve gone bankrupt. Their lives have been destroyed. And they turned out to be right!”
