Libs of TikTok accused of RACISM for exposing school’s segregated ‘playdate’ for students

The Libs of TikTok account on X was accused of being racist after posting an unedited version of an invitation from an elementary school for a playdate that only applied to black, Latino, and AAPI families.

“A California elementary school reportedly held a race segregated ‘playdate social’ for all students except the white kids. A parent blasted the school on social media, ‘we’ll look back and cringe so hard that we tried to beat racism by segregating kids of color from white kids,'” Libs of TikTok stated on X.

The San Francisco Chronicle wrote a skewed and biased piece calling the exposure of the invitation promoting segregation as a flashpoint for “racists” and their hatred of “safe spaces.”

“Creating spaces for Black, brown and AAPI kids is seen as some kind of zero-sum game for people who are against it,” Macheo Payne, a professor of social work at Cal State East Bay claimed according to the San Francisco Chronicle. “They ask where the white spaces are, which disregards how those spaces exist by default in society.”

“I’m never surprised and I’m never not disappointed in the kind of backlash Chabot is seeing, whether it’s in Mobile, Ala., or the seemingly progressive Bay Area,” activist Marlon Richardson commented according to the leftist media outlet. “We’re still dealing with ghosts of Jim Crow, the ghosts of the ’60s, and the last throes of white supremacists seeking to keep the experiences of Black, brown, AAPI and LGBTQ kids out of education spaces.”

The flyer that Libs of TikTok posted was discovered on a Bay Area subreddit. For doing so, Libs of TikTok was once again labeled as a far-right extremist account by leftists. They accused the account of racism which seems to be exactly what the organizers of the flyer and playdate are guilty of.

Also of ironic note is the bottom of the flyer which states, “Sponsored by the Equity and Inclusion Committee.”

“The equity and inclusion committee at Oakland’s Chabot Elementary School didn’t publish the emails and phone numbers of organizers when advertising its ‘playdate’ for students of color on Aug. 26,” the San Francisco Chronicle noted.

“‘Something told me not to do it,’ said Briana, the co-chair of the committee who is Black, has a child who attends the school and asked that I not use her last name due to safety concerns. ‘Maybe it was my ancestors talking to me,'” the media outlet continued.

The meltdown by other leftist media outlets was totally predictable.

The Daily Beast called Libs of TikTok a “notorious right-wing” X account that stated “a California elementary school reportedly held a race segregated ‘playdate social’ for all students except white kids.”

The Oaklandside defamed Libs of TikTok claiming it had “disparaged members of the school community.”

Libs of TikTok did say Chabot Elementary School “is racist against white people,” but that appears to be an accurate assessment of the situation.

The outlet also claimed that a bomb threat at the school and “hateful” messages it received “appear to have been sparked” by Libs of TikTok. Since the flyer was originally posted to Reddit, that seems an absolute stretch.

The school was evacuated due to the bomb threat being mailed to the school principal, according to KTVU, which reported that the school’s principal and a second staffer were targeted by bomb threats. Oakland police also checked their homes according to the outlet.

But the San Francisco Chronicle was the most disparaging of the lot.

“This idea of painting critical anti-racism efforts as somehow racist or anti-white is a familiar strategy used by some Republicans to sway voters and win elections. The deliberate distortion of reality paints anti-racism movements as divisive rather than unifying, hateful rather than compassionate,” the outlet wrote.

“Chabot, located in the affluent Rockridge neighborhood, is predominantly white. As [the diversity and inclusion member] told me, parents and kids of color don’t often feel welcomed in the community. They aren’t regularly invited to playdates with white families at the school, she said. So they create their own social networks, the same way white families do,” the media mouthpiece claimed.

“We created our event knowing we live in a country where everything is white by default. When people say American, they automatically think white,” the purported woman in the reporting said. “We wanted to create a space where families of color feel comfortable and safe.”
