The RINOs at the Lincoln Project have taken their hatred of Donald Trump to the Department of Justice, demanding an investigation of the former president.
In a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland, the rabid never-Trumpers requested President Joe Biden’s DOJ open an investigation into the Republican presidential nominee over an alleged violation of federal law by purportedly offering Robert F. Kennedy Jr. a Cabinet position.
“The Lincoln Project formally requests that your office open an investigation into Donald Trump (‘Trump’) to determine if he violated 18 U.S.C. § 599 (‘Section 559’) or 18 U.S.C. § 600 (‘Section 600’) by promising to appoint, or support for appointment, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. (‘RFK Jr.’) to a public office in exchange for RFK Jr. endorsing and supporting Trump’s campaign for President of the United States, ” the letter states.
“These are criminal violations subject to fines and imprisonment,” the letter, signed by their General Counsel Mario Nicolais, adds.
Today we formally requested that the DOJ open an investigation into Trump to determine if he violated 18 U.S.C. § 599 or 18 U.S.C. § 600 by promising to appoint, or support for appointment, RFK Jr. to a public office in exchange for his endorsement.@MarioNicolaiEsq pic.twitter.com/fmfP7FJWxe

The letter does not give any specifics but alleges “contemporaneous allegations, unconfirmed but investigable, suggest that at some point Trump offered RFK Jr. a public office in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services up to and including the position of Secretary of HHS, in exchange for RFK Jr.’s endorsement in the 2024 presidential election.”
“For example, RFK Jr.’s own family member recently wrote in the Washington Post, ‘my cousin, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., endorsed Donald Trump, reportedly in exchange for a Cabinet-level position overseeing efforts in the health arena,'” the letter claims.
Kennedy suspended his campaign and formally endorsed Trump last month. Reports that the former Independent presidential candidate had unsuccessfully tried to contact Vice President Kamala Harris about serving in her administration were cited in the letter which used the phrase “not publicly known” several times in its referral to Kennedy’s alleged actions.
Trump has not spoken of a Cabinet position for the former Democrat but both Kennedy and former Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard have been named as part of the Trump transition team.

“An investigation, including interviews with staff members from both Trump’s campaign and RFK Jr’s campaign and records subpoenas could help to shed light on this question for the American public,” the Lincoln Project’s letter told Garland.
The group alleges Trump is guilty of a violation of 18 U.S.C. § 559 – “Promise of appointment by candidate & Violation of 18 U.S.C. § 600 – Promise of employment or other benefit for political activity.”
Admitting that the DOJ “has never prosecuted a violation of Section 559 and prosecution under Section 600 is also rare,” the letter contends that “America has also never had a felon indicted and convicted for interfering with an election for president before.”
One of the laws referred to in the letter states: “Whoever, being a candidate, directly or indirectly promises or pledges the appointment, or the use of his influence or support for the appointment of any person to any public or private position or employment, for the purpose of procuring support in his candidacy shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both.”
“This is a serious matter in which Trump is interfering in and undermining American elections at the highest level. Again. An investigation cannot wait,” the letter concludes. “Should their deal reap its intended consequences, there will be no opportunity to engage in an investigation post-election. Trump will surely quash any suggestion of an investigation, just as he will likely put a stop to the DOJ prosecutions already underway.”
The scandal-plagued Lincoln Project was raked over the coals for another “desperate” attempt to get Trump.
Could The Lincoln Project be any more desperate? They’ve been throwing everything at Trump for years, and now this is their latest Hail Mary. Sounds like they’re scraping the bottom of the barrel here, trying to twist political support into a crime. When your entire platform is…

That sounds juvenile. RFKjr said he endorsed Pres Trump because Harris wouldn’t speak to him, and he was tired of the aparatus, not because Pres Trump is giving him a job. This is why no one with a brain cell takes you seriously.

first off, the information you have in your “request” is incorrect. Secondly, i think we need to formally request the DOJ open an investigation into YOU @ProjectLincoln for election interference.
