A freelance Vanity Fair reporter has been let go after she was caught flashing a wink and smile while reporting live from Lindsay Clancy’s murder trial.
According to a statement that Vanity Fair emailed to The Boston Globe, they’d hired now-fired reporter Brittany Romano after learning that she’d grown up with Clancy.
“We were interested in the prospect of a personal essay by Brittany Romano about her experience growing up with Lindsay Clancy,” they said.
But that interest vanished faster than a fog after Romano botched the assignment by acting like a fool in court:

Her wink and smile quickly went viral, triggering outrage and calls for her to be eliminated from the job. That call was ultimately answered.
“Yesterday, after clear conflicts with our editorial standards and processes, we informed Romano that we were not moving forward with her essay and informed the court that she is no longer credentialed by Vanity Fair,” the magazine told the Globe.
Romano, for her part, refuses to accept this “narrative.”
“I am a freelancer. Vanity Fair cannot ‘pull credentials’ from someone who is not staff,” she claimed in an emailed statement to the Globe, adding that Vanity Fair had simply directed her to take her story elsewhere.
“There was no formal agreement, no employment relationship, and no ‘fallout.’ That framing is factually inaccurate,” Romano continued.
She later doubled down with a psychotic Instagram video post in which she seemingly threatened to sue anyone posting about her.

“I do date a lawyer, and every single thing that you’ve been saying has been screenshotted,” she said in the video. “So maybe look in on the repercussions of what you’re saying.”
She also denied ever working for Vanity Fair.
“Also, I don’t work for Vanity Fair,” she said. “I’ve never said I work for Vanity Fair.”
Strangely enough, she also spoke of the supplements and medications she takes.
“I’m not drunk,” she said. “I’ve been sober for quite some time. And I didn’t take my full Adderall today.”

Making matters worse for Romano, she was also caught hobnobbing with Clancy’s attorney while in court:

In separate remarks made to a bystander standing outside the Clancy courtroom this Monday, Romano sought again to try to explain herself.
This time she said she’d posed for the camera while in court at the request of her father. He had been watching the proceedings from home and had said something to her about how she looked unhappy on screen.

Romano also published a text post to Instagram complaining about how women are allegedly mistreated.
“A smile is not a crime,” she wrote. “Telling a woman to slit her wrists is.”
She predictably also defended Clancy, the vile alleged murderess whom millions of delusional leftist women have glommed onto as some sort of hero.
“For two years I have fought to cover the Lindsay Clancy case honestly, because at its center is a mother accused of killing her three children during postpartum psychosis, and because the conversation around her has spent that whole time swinging between calling her a monster and asking what actually broke her inside,” Romano wrote.
“Women’s mental health was never a side note in that coverage, it was the whole point,” she added.
