Lindsey Graham to ayatollah: Defy Trump and he will kill you

Finding comfort in his war hawk wheelhouse, South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham (R) put the supreme leader of one foreign nation on notice for a fatal outcome should he “defy” the president.

In the wee hours of Saturday morning, Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro was apprehended and transported to the United States to face charges for alleged narcoterrorism. As the operation seemingly set up the potential for regime dominoes to fall from South America all the way to the Middle East, Graham saw fit to threaten Iran’s Ayatollah Ali Khamenei that anything short of acquiescing to President Donald Trump’s will and he was bound to “wake up dead.”

Appearing on Tuesday’s installment of Fox News’ “Hannity” alongside fellow Palmetto State Sen. Tim Scott (R), Graham turned his focus toward the people living under the Islamist regime that have continued to be brutally suppressed during protests that have resulted in dozens of deaths.

“To the people of Iran, help is on the way,” the senator said before confirming to host Sean Hannity that he had given the president a “Make Iran Great Again” hat. “I did. And [Trump’s] not [former President] Barack Obama. He’s not turning his back on the people of Iran who are demanding that their oppression end. And to the ayatollah and his thugs, if you keep killing your people in defiance of President Trump, you’re gonna wake up dead. Iran is on the verge of falling.”

Prior to setting his focus on the Eastern Hemisphere, Graham remarked on the current state of Venezuela, set to be guided by the United States through the dismantling of Maduro’s pseudo-government toward an election, as well as the situation in Cuba.

“If you defy [Trump], if you’re one of the holdovers and you try to undercut him, what happened to Maduro is gonna happen to you,” warned the lawmaker. “But, there’ll be a day in the future when the country is ready for elections — free and fair — that will elect people that will be allies of the United States. The dictator, the thug, is in jail in New York.”

“Donald J. Trump, in my view, is the greatest president of all time. He’s cutting your taxes, he’s cutting spending. Every drug — narcoterrorist drug dealer, drug leader, is on the run. Cuba is on death watch,” asserted the senator. “Cuba depends on Russia and Venezuela. Both of them are in a box. It’s just a matter of time, and I mean a short time, until the communist dictatorship in Cuba that has oppressed their people since the mid-50s falls to be replaced with a democracy friendly to the United States.”

Graham’s remarks followed expressed concern from Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul (R) that the president was “under the thrall of Lindsey Graham,” likening recent moves abroad to the “war-mad” Bushes who “wanted to be involved in all these crazy wars overseas or make the world safe for democracy.”

“I never liked any of that. And I thought Trump was different,” Paul told reporters, adding his disappointment in seeing the supposed influence of Graham.
