Longshoremen union boss slammed for fiery, threat-filled statement: ‘Things are about to get wild’

Holding the American supply chain hostage with exorbitant demands the longshoremen’s union boss left the public suggesting “automation can’t happen soon enough.”

A promise was fulfilled early Tuesday morning as from Maine to Texas the more than 45,000 members of the International Longshoremen’s Association went on strike. As the nationwide implications of their protest for better pay and job security became apparent, union president Harold Daggett asserted it was time to “put so much pressure” on corporations that “don’t want to share.”

Sharing a clip of Daggett on Fox News that suggested things were going to get uncomfortable for many Americans, Turning Point USA founder and CEO Charlie Kirk asserted, “100% means business… Things are about to get wild.”

“People never gave a sh*t about us until now. When they finally realized that the chain is being broke now,” said the union boss.

“Cars won’t come in. Food won’t come in. Clothing won’t come in. You know how many people depend on our jobs,” continued Daggett. “Half the world! And it’s time for them and time for Washington to put so much pressure on them to take care of us because we took care of them. And we’re here 135 years and brought them where they are today and they don’t want to share. I’m done.”

The ILA leader who himself made roughly $900,000 in 2023, according to The Telegraph, found fault with the reporter’s posture that it was his members that would “grind the economy to a halt” as he blamed corporations for supposedly not sharing their profits.

“Don’t spin it now,” the union boss pressed, “They have the capital to settle this thing.”

According to Fox News’ report, the longshoremen had already turned down a 50% wage hike that would roll out over eight years arguing that they still weren’t guaranteed that automation wouldn’t force their members out of work.

In a statement ahead of the strike, Daggett asserted, “We are prepared to fight as long as necessary, to stay out on strike for whatever period of time it takes, to get the wages and protections against automation our ILA members deserve.”

“They must now meet our demands for this strike to end,” he added.

The fact that most Americans were still struggling from the economic failures of Bidenomics seemed of little concern to the union that was hardly winning the hearts of families as a supply scare akin to that at the onset of COVID lockdowns began to spread.

President Joe Biden appeared to be aligned with the will of the union as he released a statement touting his preferred narrative about corporate greed, saying in part, “It’s only fair that workers, who put themselves at risk during the pandemic to keep ports open, see a meaningful increase in their wages as well.”

Meanwhile, as reactions poured in disgusted over how a 50% uptick apparently wasn’t considered “meaningful” to the longshoremen, syndicated radio host Dana Loesch’s husband, Chris Loesch, added perspective in a lengthy post.

“Hey, Longshoremen. I know you rejected the 50% pay raise offer and reject any automation because you want American shipping to be the worst in the world. I know you don’t care about the millions of people who won’t be able to rebuild or even eat after a historic storm has destroyed their lives,” he argued. “I know you don’t care that America is still in terrible economic conditions because of the idiotic COVID lockdowns and the moronic economic policies of the Biden administration (who you praise).”

“I know you don’t care that we are just ahead of the Holiday season. I know you don’t care that the Middle East is on the brink of all out war. But maybe you should care,” suggested Loesch. “Maybe your greed and backwards thinking should take a back seat while some of these problems get worked out and your fellow countrymen get back on their feet. Maybe you could take an unheard of 50% raise and be happy for a few years. Or maybe you don’t deserve the jobs as you try to make America a third world country.”

“Shame on you.”
