Actor Kurt Russell was trending on social media Tuesday and it seems the reason was a resurfaced interview in which he delivered a brutal reality check on “gun culture.”
Russell was lauded on X Tuesday as new reactions poured in for his no-nonsense take on gun control in an interview from 2015.
The prolific film star is heard in a clip posted to social media that is reportedly from an interview with Jeffrey Wells of Hollywood Elsewhere while promoting his movie, Quentin Tarantino’s “The Hateful Eight,” according to a HuffPost story from the time.
In the discussion of the “Quentin cult” of violence, Wells broached the gun control issue and promptly got buried.
Russell was having none of the writer’s progressive thinking when he asked him about so-called gun culture which the actor said he simply didn’t understand.
Explaining that guns are a “metaphor” for “disenfranchised white guys,” Wells was interrupted by Russell saying, “You can say what you want, I don’t agree with that.”
The short version of Kurt Russell on gun control is basically “you’ll take it from my cold, dead hands buddy”.
He was on with this woke writer.
Didn’t know he was this cool but it makes sense since Tombstone is the best western film in human history. pic.twitter.com/Z0siGcGg7z

“It’s not my thing.” the “Tombstone” star added as Wells attempted to explain.
“If you think that gun control, or something like that, is going to change a terrorist’s point of view, I think you’re, like, out of your mind. I think anybody is. I think it’s absolutely insane,” Russell, now 72, said.
“The problem we’re having right now is that we don’t have the concepts of how to turn it around and say, ‘You know, you may think you’ve got me worried about what you’re gonna do. But dude, You’re about to find out what I’m gonna do and that’s gonna worry you a lot more,'” he said.
“And that’s what we need,” Russell continued. “That will change the concept of gun culture, as you call it, to something of reality.”
“I get that,” Wells stated before landing himself in another pit as he brought up how those on the “no-fly list” with connections to terrorists can get a gun “pretty easily.”
Russell pounced.
“They can also make a bomb pretty easily. They can also get knives and stab you,” he pointed out. “What are you gonna do about that? They can also get cars and run you over with them. What are you gonna do about that?”
Wells was momentarily speechless.
“So what are you gonna do? Outlaw everything?” Russell asked. “That isn’t the answer.”
He laughed out loud when Wells suggested some “controls” could be put in place.
The actor concluded, “You and I just disagree.”
“I understand that you think you can control the behavior of people that are dead set on taking your way of life away from you, I think you think you can control that,” he added as the writer could be heard disagreeing. “And there’s only one thing you can do with that and that’s say, ‘No dude, that’s not gonna happen.'”
At this point, the interview was abruptly brought to an end.
“Good talking with ya!” Russell responded.
The nearly decade-old interaction caught the attention of social media where Russell’s name began trending Tuesday.

Plenty of X users agreed with his words and applauded the truth bombs he dropped in the clip.
Do not cede a single bit of our Constitutional freedoms to politicians – or senseless progressives – not one damn bit of freedom.
Straight fire from Kurt Russell.

Kurt Russell can’t be cancelled and that pisses them off.

I love him even more now. It’s just common sense, something rarely seen from Hollywood.

Kurt Russell just became my favorite actor. He pokes holes in the blog writer’s thoughts on gun control, speaks reality to the guy who is drinking the Woke Kool-Aid. He also understands you can’t talk sense to the wokies sometimes. He’s a Libertarian & doesn’t dip into politics. https://t.co/vFivHjgFRn
