Macy Gray responds to fallout over remarks on transwomen, tells detractors to ‘fk off’

Singer Macy Gray has become the latest manifestation, albeit unintentionally, of the growing realization that you never, ever apologize to the left after she shared her opinion on transgender women.

Slammed as transphobic, Gray dared to define a woman as “a human being with boobs…and a vagina,” during a Monday night interview on “Piers Morgan Uncensored.” Going even further, the singer also agreed with Morgan that transgender women should not compete in sports.

“We’re in an era now basically where most public figures are too terrified to say what they think a woman is,” Morgan said in the interview.

“I know!” Gray replied. “I’d say a human being with boobs. You have to start there. And a vagina!”

Falling back on science, Gray essentially said — respectfully — that a man cannot become a woman simply by wishing it so — a viewpoint that was accepted as fact a few short years ago.

“I will say this, and everyone’s gonna hate me, but as a woman, just because you go change your parts, doesn’t make you a woman, sorry. … I know that for a fact,” she said. “Like if you want me to call you a ‘her,’ I will, ’cause that’s what you want, but that doesn’t make you a woman just ’cause I call you a ‘her.’”

Gray also came to the defense of  Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling, who believes trans women are a threat to cisgender women, which is how biological women are now referred to on the left.

“But it’s the truth,” she said of Rowling. “And I don’t think you should be called transphobic just because you don’t agree…there’s a lot of judgment and throwing stones at people for just saying what it is.”

As for her prediction that “everyone’s gonna hate me,” Gray was on the money when it comes to those on the left.

She responded to the accusations of being transphobic in a statement to Billboard, somewhat caving to say her words were “misunderstood.”

“I have nothing but love for the LGBTQ+ and transgender community and have been a supporter since day one,” Gray said. “My statement on Piers Morgan was grossly misunderstood. I don’t hate anyone. I respect everyone’s right to feel comfortable in their bodies and live their own truth.”

With a little more pizazz, though, Gray also responded online to tell her detractors to “fk off.”

She tweeted: ‘All of you coming on my page, threatening me and calling me names – just becuz I said something you don’t agree with – be whatever you wana be, and fk off.’

Gray had plenty of support online, as seen here:
