Maddow insists indicting a president is totally normal…But, DeSantis’s shot from ‘Fort Sumter’? That’s worrying!

The Trump haters have coveted a mug shot of Donald Trump almost from the moment he came down the Trump Tower escalator, and now that they are oh, so close to that moment of bliss they are not about to let someone deny them of that pleasure.

For the more extreme among us, such as MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow, they’re apparently willing to fight a civil war to get it — naturally, a Trump mug shot would be run continuously on a loop from the day the photo is taken until the 2024 election has taken place.

Maddow was responding to the news that Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg followed up on a campaign promise with the first criminal indictment of a former president over hush money payments supposedly made to porn actress Stormy Daniels leading up to the 2016 presidential election — at this point, there can be no arguing that Trump is the most persecuted man in modern American history.

She noted that Trump’s lawyers are saying he is expected to be arraigned, explaining that this means Trump will likely turn himself in Tuesday to be booked on the trumped-up political charges, before turning her focus on Gov. DeSantis should Trump not do so.

“Within five minutes of that first statement from Trump’s lawyer, a Republican politician named Ron DeSantis, who is the governor of Florida, made this statement online, saying, ‘Florida will not assist in an extradition request given the questionable circumstances at issue with this Soros-backed Manhattan prosecutor and his political agenda.’ That’s some of the verbiage in that statement from Ron DeSantis that echoes word for word what Donald Trump said in response to his own indictment today,” Maddow said. “He’s echoing Trump’s language exactly, which is fine. Criticizing the legal process, criticizing the indictment, criticizing your perceived positive goal enemies, calling for your supporters to blah-blah-blah, okay, got it.”

The MSNBC host then proclaimed that our very republic hangs on whether the left gets their much sought-after mug shot of Trump, echoing the Civil War in doing so.

“Saying that the legal process for extraditing for somebody from one state to another is something that will not be followed — the Florida governor, if Trump decides that he’s not gonna turn himself in, that he will stay in Florida and ‘Come and get me,’ Florida is not going to allow that process to go forward because it’s a former president, because it’s Donald Trump, well, that could break us,” Maddow said. “I mean, indicting a president, indicting a politician is a normal thing in this country. Trying to say the legal system no longer applies in this country if you try to apply it to our political guy, that is something that can break the rule of law in this country. That is something — I mean, if anything, it is the first proverbial shot at Fort Sumter today. That shot was fired not by Donald Trump, but by Ron DeSantis.”

Someone may want to tip Maddow off to the Justice Department’s hands-off approach to Hunter Biden. And what will break this country are people like Maddow, people with a national platform radicalizing an entire generation with Marxist-inspired, hard-left political dogma.

As for DeSantis, he was quick to release a statement, calling the Trump indictment “un-American” and saying that Florida “will not assist” in any extradition requests.

“The weaponization of the legal system to advance a political agenda turns the rule of law on its head. It is un-American,” DeSantis said. “The Soros-backed Manhattan District Attorney has consistently bent the law to downgrade felonies and to excuse criminal misconduct. Yet, now he is stretching the law to target a political opponent.”

“Florida will not assist in an extradition request given the questionable circumstances at issue with this Soros-backed Manhattan prosecutor and his political agenda,” he added.
