‘MAGA did not do this’: MTG joins GOP chorus calling for J6 probe after release of tapes

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) has joined GOP lawmakers who are calling for a probe into the now-defunct J6 House Select Committee over newly released surveillance video that paints a far different picture than what has been presented.

Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-LA) delivered on what his ousted predecessor Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) failed to do by making the footage of the day of the so-called “insurrection” publicly available, an event that has been used as justification to persecute the supporters of former President Donald J. Trump and to disqualify him from the 2024 election.

In a Sunday morning post to X, the platform previously known as Twitter, Greene called on Speaker Johnson to “create a January 6th Select Committee,” that unlike the first one, would presumably be devoted to getting at the truth. “Releasing the tapes is not enough!”

“There needs to be investigations and ACCOUNTABILITY for ALL of the lies, deceit, and lives ruined,” she said. Every member of the Jan 6th committee, Nancy Pelosi, FBI, DOJ, DC Police, Cap Police, Jan 6 witnesses who lied, all need to be subpoenaed.”

“Criminal referrals must be written and prosecutions MUST happen under a Trump DOJ,” added MTG. “I’ve said it all along, MAGA did not do this.”

The fiery Georgia congresswoman’s call for a congressional investigation follows that of Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) who said, “We need to investigate the J6 committee.”

“Why didn’t Liz Cheney and Adam Kizinger ever refer to any of these tapes? Maybe they never looked for them. Maybe they never even questioned their own narrative. Maybe they were just too busy selectively leaking the text messages of Republicans they wanted to defeat,” Sen. Lee asked in another post to X, with video showing police in the Capitol acting like tour guides for some of the J6 protesters.

Also calling for sunlight to be shined into the rat’s nest of the J6 committee was Greene’s GOP House colleague, Rep. Troy Nehls (R-TX) who wrote on X, “The J6 committee was a sham. I knew it then. Everyone knows it now. Let’s investigate the investigators.”

Democrats, Cheney, and their fellow travelers have used J6 as a modern domestic version of the infamous Reichstag Fire to justify their sweeping crackdown on the political opposition, many of whom have been rotting in deplorable conditions in a special D.C. prison where there have been accounts of abuses such as beatings and torture that one would normally expect in a Chinese gulag, not within “our democracy” as the usurpers have taken to calling it.

As the quote widely attributed to great American writer Mark Twain goes, “A lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is still putting on its shoes,” and there are few greater fibs than the Big Lie that Cheney and her friends foisted off on the public.

“It has since come out from videos that not only Antifa and provocateurs but many federal agents and undercover agents were in the crowd. At the time, we had no idea that Trump supporters got wrapped up in the Capitol breach, only that they were there peacefully protesting,” Greene wrote in her upcoming memoir, according to the Washington Examiner.

“The events of January 6 have been mischaracterized by the Democrats and their mouthpieces in the media, a circus made of the proceedings, and these people cruelly treated. It must stop! It will stop — for we won’t rest until these people get equal justice under the law. They will not be forgotten. I will never forget,” she vowed.
