Mamdani calls Netanyahu ‘war criminal,’ plots his arrest if PM attends UN Summit

Instead of addressing exploding homelessness in his city, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani is mulling whether to arrest Benjamin Netanyahu.

The mayor is reportedly “still weighing” whether he can arrest the Israeli prime minister when he arrives for the United Nations General Assembly, and is in “active conversation” with authorities regarding the matter.

“I believe that Prime Minister Netanyahu belongs in the Hague,” he said to The New York Times. “He’s a war criminal who has been charged by the International Criminal Court.”

“And what you will find is that is an opinion that is held by many, purely because of what his actions have wrought over these last many years,” he added.

While he’s unsure if he has the authority to order Netanyahu’s arrest, he says he will be as aggressive as he is allowed to be.

“Whatever the law allows me to do in New York City, that’s what we will do, but we won’t be writing our own laws to that end,” he said.
