Johnny Deven Young, a 25-year-old man who calls himself an “incel,” was arrested on several charges related to allegedly pepper spraying multiple women.
Young reportedly filmed these encounters which prosecutors say took place outside Costa Mesa, California bars from November 2021 to April of this year. He likely shared them with other members of the “incel” community, who believe that they are “involuntarily celibate,” and rage against women for not wanting to take them to bed.
It’s unclear what effect, if any, pepper spray has on a woman’s willingness to sleep with a man.
The charges Young faces include “four felony counts of assault with great bodily injury, four felony counts of illegal use of tear gas, four felony enhancements for the personal use of a deadly weapon, and eight felony hate crime enhancements” and also include “five misdemeanor counts of violation of civil rights” according to KTLA.
District Attorney Todd Spitzer is hoping to deter other members of the “incel” community from committing similar crimes.
“These charges send a very strong message to that entire community that we will not tolerate violence against women in any form,” Spitzer said in a statement.
Social media had quite a bit to say about the “incel”: (** Coarse language)
Wayminute One night with a Hooker could have stopped him. Once bitten.

This guy is a sick dude. Probably only a matter of time before his attacks became more violent. May he spend many years in prison. He won’t be an incel for some of his cell mates in there. LOL!

At least we still let thousands of other violent offenders out on our streets with no bail.

Why would it not be? Is it possible the growing problem with these men of this mentality has escaped your attention?
— LadyB (@Lady_Barlow) September 28, 2022
Why would someone admit to being an incel?
— Kevin (@unpredictkev82) September 28, 2022
The chances of that happening are mist likely slim to none.
