Massie on kamikaze mission, tells CNN he doesn’t care how GOP looks over Epstein hoax

Rep. Thomas Massie on Wednesday defended his decision to work with Democrats to push for the release of all of the so-called Epstein files, telling a CNN reporter that he doesn’t care about the political backlash.

Massie recently introduced a resolution with Democrat Rep. Ro Khanna that would effectively force the release of all federal files related to deceased pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

However, House Speaker Mike Johnson has refused to bring the bill up for a vote.

Speaking with CNN’s Manu Raju this Wednesday, Massie accused his fellow Republicans of making themselves look bad with their intransigence toward his bill:

“I care most about the policy here, not the politics of it, but politically, it’s really bad for Republicans,” he said. “They should just have this vote and put it behind them.”

“Eighty percent of Republicans, it’s not just independents and Democrats who want these files released, 80% of Republicans support releasing these files. So, they’re at odds with our base right now, and particularly the MAGA base,” he added.

The remarks came after Massie teamed up with Khanna and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene to host Epstein’s alleged victims in a rally held right outside the Capitol.

“Close to a dozen victims of the sinister New York financier spoke at a press conference,” the Daily Mail reported. “Many of the survivors were speaking publicly for the first time, offering details not yet widely reported.”

But the victims didn’t have a problem smearing President Donald Trump.

Victim Chauntae Davies, a former actress, alleged that Epstein’s “biggest brag, forever, was that he was very good friends with Donald Trump.”

“‘He had an 8×10 framed picture of him on his desk, with the two of them,” she added. “They were very close.”

She also alleged to have been “taken on a trip to Africa with former President Bill Clinton and other notable figures.”

Speaking of Trump, Massie himself suggested during an appearance on MSNBC the night before that Trump has refused to release all of the Epstein files because he’s trying to cover for somebody:

“I think the best way to clear President Trump’s name is to release all the files,” he said. ” I actually don’t think he’s done anything criminal. I think he may be covering for some rich and powerful people that are friends of his.”

His trash-talking has earned him praise from an unexpected source: Democrat Rep. Jasmine Crockett.

“I respect Thomas Massie,” she told MSNBC later Wednesday evening. “He is what I would consider to be a traditional conservative. He doesn’t believe in what Trump tells him to believe. He knows who he is, and he never backs down.”

Trump has also been accused of purposefully drowning out the Epstein victims during Wednesday’s press conference via the use of an unexpected military flyover.

But according to former New Jersey Trump delegate Mike Crispi, that’s a lie. The flyover “was planned weeks in advance for the visiting President of Poland,” he revealed in a tweet Wednesday afternoon.

Trump for his part once again dismissed the Epstein scandal as a hoax.

“They’re trying to get people to talk about something that’s totally irrelevant to the success we’ve had as a nation since I’ve been president,” he said of Massie and Khanna.
