Florida Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz began to make good on his promise of accountability and put Kevin McCarthy in the hot seat following a Biden impeachment announcement that came up short.
Soon after the Republican Speaker of the House said that he would be launching a “formal impeachment inquiry” into the long history of Joe Biden’s “culture of corruption”, Gaetz took the podium with an announcement of his own.
“I rise today to serve notice. Mr. Speaker you are out of compliance with the agreement that allowed you to assume this role.”
Gaetz said that the path forward for the House was either to bring McCarthy into “immediate, total” compliance or remove him pursuant to a motion to vacate the chair.
The Florida Rep then railed off a list of complaints that had not been adequately addressed by McCarthy, including “no votes” on term limits or balanced budgets, and the still mostly stifled January 6th tapes that were promised to be released to the American public upon McCarthy’s appointment to the Speakership.
Gatez then accused McCarthy of pulling political maneuvers that ultimately had him acting as “the valet to underwrite Bidens’ debt and advance his spending agenda.”
He reamed McCarthy for being too cowardly to serve even one subpoena to Hunter Biden.
“That’s how you know that the rushed, and somewhat rattled performance you just saw from the Speaker isn’t real!” Gaetz said.
He also blasted leadership for asking to vote for a “continuing resolution.” Which he argues is a vote to continue the ‘Green New Deal, inflationary spending” and most troubling would be a “vote to continue the election interference” of Jack Smith.
Gaetz accused McCarthy of ignoring reasonable Republican recommendations that would steer America back in the right direction.
“You must be better, and this House must be better, for it is the last best hope for tens of millions of Republicans,” he railed. “Joe Biden deserves impeachment for converting the vice presidency into an ATM machine for virtually his whole family,” Gaetz said.
He then blasted McCarthy’s “baby step” inquiry after weeks of pressure to do more and fired off five demands or face a formal fight to have him removed.
“Begin to comply,” he began. “No continuing resolution, individual spending bills are bust, votes on balanced budgets and term limits, subpoenas for Hunter Biden and members for the Biden family who’ve been grifting off of this country. And impeachment for Joe Biden that he so richly deserves.”
Finally, Gaetz said he’s prepared for initial failure and Dem opposition but will urge votes on all of these important issues to force transparency and build “resistance to this uni-party and the Biden, McCarthy, Jeffries government that they are attempting to build.”
The fired-up Floridian garnered a ton of support from fed-up conservatives and patriots on X:
