Mayor Adams complains the influx of migrants sent to NYC by Biden admin is a ‘real burden’ on resources

New York City Mayor Eric Adams is seeking the Biden administration’s help in dealing with the hordes of illegal aliens flooding his city, but there’s a slight problem. At least some of the hordes are being directed to the city by the Biden administration itself, according to an investigation by the New York Post.

“Outside a city Department of Homeless Services intake center in The Bronx, Veronica Prada, 28, said Wednesday that she, her husband and their four kids left their native Venezuela on April 26 and crossed the US-Mexico border into San Antonio, Texas, on July 11,” the Post reported Wednesday.

“They were greeted by Border Patrol agents who took them and other migrants to a processing facility where immigration officials gave the family information on how to apply for asylum and an Aug. 23 appointment with an immigration lawyer in The Bronx, although Prada told The Post she and her husband didn’t ask to go to New York.”

The report was published a day after Adams began complaining about the influx of illegal aliens into NYC. Apparently, he doesn’t appreciate this taste of what it feels like to be a border state or border city under pretty much any Democrat administration.

“Currently, New York City is experiencing a marked increase in the number of asylum seekers who are arriving from Latin America and other regions,” Adams said in a statement, adding that this influx is depleting NYC’s social service resources.

“In order to both meet the legal mandate as a right-to-shelter city and provide high-quality shelter and services for those who enter our system, New York City needs additional federal resources immediately,” he continued.

“If we do not get these urgently needed resources, we may struggle to provide the proper level of support our clients deserve, while also facing challenges as we serve both a rapidly growing shelter population and new clients who are seeking asylum.”

He reiterated this complaint during a press conference later Tuesday afternoon.

“We already have an overburdened shelter system. So now we’re talking about, as you stated, food, clothing, school. This is going to impact our schools because we do not turn away individuals because they’re undocumented, need translation services. There’s just a whole host of things that this is going to produce. And that’s why we need help in getting this done and we need the right coordination to make it happen,” he said.

Dovetailing back to Adams’s statement, he tried blaming some of the influx on the GOP-led states of Texas and Arizona.

“In some instances, families are arriving on buses sent by the Texas and Arizona governments, while in other cases, it appears that individuals are being sent by the federal government,” he said.

But the governors of both states have reportedly denied that they’re funneling illegals to NYC.

“[T]he offices of both Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey denied Adams’ claim, saying in separate statements that they were in fact sending asylum seekers to Washington — but not to New York City,” according to New York station WNBC.

This certainly fits given Abbott and Ducey’s past rhetoric:

But apparently, Adams didn’t believe them.

“In turn, a spokesperson for Adams responded to those pushback claims, saying that the governors ‘should have more compassion for those seeking asylum in this country,’ and repeated the city’s request for federal assistance,” according to WNBC.

“If they need financial help, they should ask for it instead of heartlessly sending asylum seekers on their way with a one-way ticket. In New York City, we have a legal and moral mandate to provide shelter to everyone who needs it, and will continue to fulfill that mandate, but, as we have said, we urgently need federal support to help us do so,” the spokesperson said.

NYC is unlikely to receive even a scintilla of assistance from the Biden administration, which has demonstrated again and again that it doesn’t care about the border crisis.

From nixing his predecessor’s Remain in Mexico policy to deprioritizing the deportation of illegals of aliens, President Joe Biden has effectively turned America into an open borders nation where thousands of illegals cross into any given day.

And until a Republican retakes the White House, nothing is apt to change …
