Mayor Adams has raunchy idea for New Yorkers stuck inside during snowstorm

Democrat Mayor Eric Adams had an eyebrow-raising suggestion for New Yorkers stuck indoors as the city braced for a winter snowstorm.

Reporters and social media users predicted a “baby boom” coming after Adams suggested New York City residents should remain at home and ride out the weather by keeping cozy under covers.

Local WABC news anchor Pedro Rivera asked the mayor for his advice on what New Yorkers should do in the face of what the outlet later reported was the “most significant winter storm to hit the Tri-State area in almost four years.”

“I would stay home. This is a good baby-making day,” Adams replied, eliciting off-camera reactions from Rivera and co-anchor Toni Yates and even amusing himself.

“Enjoy the weather,” the outgoing mayor suggested, noting that “2,700 sanitation workers have been out there, [working] 12-hour shifts.”

“You know, as my son would say, ‘Just do Netflix and chill,'” Adams said with a laugh. “That’s all, and just enjoy the day.”

“So in May or June, we’re expecting a baby boom, according to the mayor,” Rivera joked.

“That’s right! We want to improve the population,” Adams replied with a chuckle.

He gave a shout-out to city workers who helped tackle the snow emergency, noting that there was a recorded four inches of snow despite forecasts of 11 inches or more.

“The snowstorm was notable for Central Park, which recorded 4.3 inches of snow, the highest amount in the park since the storm of Jan. 28-29, 2022, which dropped over 8 inches,” WABC reported. “The worst of the storm began Friday evening, but by dawn, lingering light snow was tapering off, and most storm warnings had expired except in areas north and west, where slick travel was a concern because of snowy and icy roads.”

Meanwhile, the mayor’s snow-day suggestion lit up social media, and hizzoner even responded himself to a New York Post story that characterized his comment as bizarre.

Reactions on X appreciated the mayor’s humor.
