Media outlet tries to scrub ‘border czar’ title from Kamala’s resume

One media outlet seems like they are trying desperately to memory-hole the vice president’s border failure now that she has been promoted to a presidential candidate.

Axios published a story on Vice President Kamala Harris’s role as “border czar,” bizarrely claiming that she had never actually held such a title.

The post was quickly community-noted on X, which showed that even Axios had used that title to refer to Harris in previous articles. This prompted an edit within the story, where the outlet claimed that they had “incorrectly” used the label in the past.

Editor’s note: This article has been updated and clarified to note that Axios was among the news outlets that incorrectly labeled Harris a ‘border czar’ in 2021,” it read.

The claim is that Harris was not dispatched to actually do anything to solve the immigration crisis, but instead, she was given a diplomatic role to find the root causes behind large-scale migration efforts from Latin American countries.

However, efforts to sanitize Harris’ past hit a snag when an NBC report resurfaced where the vice president’s role was characterized as “solving the immigration crisis at the border.”
