Media throws a fit when unapologetic Candace Owens explains ‘White Lives Matter’ moment with Kanye

The 24-hour news cycle has driven corporate media to a state of shoot first, aim later as outlets are constantly striving to scoop their competitors with headline-focused narratives. Evidently, not mentioning a developing story has been deemed tantamount to complicity as Fox News host Tucker Carlson was derided for his ongoing coverage of Kanye West Monday.

The rapper and businessman’s sit down with the host of “Tucker Carlson Tonight” last week was overshadowed by West’s social media activity that resulted in his being banned from Instagram and blocked out of his Twitter account.

As BizPacReview covered, the since-deleted tweet from West had stated, “I’m a bit sleepy tonight but when I wake up I’m going death con 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE The funny thing is I actually can’t be Anti Semitic because black people are actually Jew also You guys have toyed with me and tried to black ball anyone whoever opposes your agenda.”

Monday on his program, Carlson invited Candace Owens to speak with her since she had donned a “White Lives Matter” shirt with West at a Paris fashion show and the absence of commentary on the allegations of antisemitism from West was treated as “support” by outlets like Mediaite.

”Tucker Carlson didn’t address an anti-Semitic tweet by Kanye West after speaking with the rapper in a softball interview last week,” they wrote. “In fact, the Fox News host continued to support the musician.”

“Carlson wrapped up the segment without having mentioned West’s hateful comments about Jews,” the piece continued before asserting “Instead, he declared, ‘No group—no group—no matter they look like or what they believe should put up with being singled out on the basis of immutable characteristics. There should be zero tolerance for that.’”

The statement was treated as concluding there, but Carlson had more to say as he went on to add, “and yet there’s enormous, as you said, enforced tolerance of it. It should stop now. I agree with that.”

It remained true that the host did not specifically address West’s controversial social media activity, nor did he spend the limited segment covering Owens’ reaction on her podcast where she had noted, “If you’re an honest person, when you read this tweet, you had no idea what the hell he was talking about. I had no idea, when I read this tweet, what the hell he was talking about. This tweet inspired questions, not answers.”

So, while it remains unknown whether or not Carlson has sought answers to some of the questions that Owens had posed like, “Is [West] talking about Jared Kushner and Josh Kushner?” and “Is he angry because he can’t believe that he’s not free to talk about people in his life who happened to be Jewish?” they discussed what was known which was the message that the “white lives matter” shirt was meant to convey.

”For years, we were told that ‘black lives matter’ was not an exclusionary phrase,” she expressed to Carlson. “We were told that, ‘It’s just what we’re saying. We’re not trying to leave white people out. We’re just saying this because this is a moment that black Americans need to have in this country.’ They were totally fine when ‘Asian lives matter’ became a slogan as well.”

Ultimately, she claimed “the result of ‘black lives matter’ has been white supremacy assuming that black Americans were stupid and emotional and would loot and riot their own communities to fulfill a false narrative about policing.”

“The saddest part of this, Tucker, which I want to add is that after wearing the shirt and getting back here out in Tennessee, I went to a farmer’s market and I had white people coming up to me with tears in their eyes—and I told Kanye this—with tears in their eyes saying, ‘Thank you so much’ as if their a forgotten people ‘for just allowing us to have our voice back.’”
