Journalist Megyn Kelly weighed in with a prediction on former President Donald Trump’s potential running mate, saying she knows “how Trump thinks.”
Speaking on “The Rubin Report” Thursday, Kelly suggested Trump may go with a controversial choice “if he doesn’t want to go to jail,” and how that choice may anger his vocal supporters.
“Is it out of the realm of possibility that he chooses Haley?” she asked host Dave Rubin, referring to former United Nations ambassador Nikki Haley, who placed third in the Iowa caucuses earlier this week.
“Absolutely not. It’s not. I realize that MAGA doesn’t want it. They’ve convinced themselves that Nikki Haley is against all the things that they stand for,” the host of “The Megyn Kelly Show” said.
“He personally really must win if he doesn’t want to go to jail,” she contended. “If that’s your situation, I think you might be thinking, ‘MAGA is gonna get over Nikki Haley if I tell them to get over Nikki Haley.’”
“I know for a fact that’s how Trump thinks,” Kelly asserted.
“I could not agree more,” Rubin responded.
“When I see all these people that are suddenly like, ‘No, he’ll never do it,’ and/or, ‘I won’t vote for him if he chooses Nikki,’ it’s like, you’ll do what Trump kind of tells you to do, actually,” he added.
He went on to speculate that a Trump-Haley ticket would also anger former Fox News host Tucker Carlson who has been quite vocal about his dislike of the former South Carolina governor.

Rubin warned that if Trump were to go with Haley as his vice presidential pick, Carlson might “actively campaign against him.”
But Kelly did not see it that way.
“I think he’s going to come home to Trump,” she said. “I think he’s going to do it under protest.”
