Objecting to being “burned” again, Megyn Kelly instead took a flamethrower to her former network and its coverage of U.S. actions in Venezuela, like “watching Russian propaganda.”
As Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro made his first appearance in a New York City courtroom facing charges including alleged narcoterrorism, and leftists rallied for his release and return to his country, the SiriusXM host struck a strikingly different chord than those on the right, voicing support for accountability.
In fact, the former Fox News host saw fit to go after the coverage of her old network, decrying the positive reports as all “rah-rah cheerleading.”
Referencing her 14 years at Fox News, Kelly contrasted her current apprehension about positively covering the story of Maduro’s apprehension with the alleged expectations of her former network, which she contended played out in real time when she flipped to their coverage: “I turned on Fox News yesterday, and I’m sorry, but it was like watching Russian propaganda. There was nothing skeptical. It was all rah-rah cheerleading, yes, let’s go.”

“And that’s fine. I love our military as much as anyone, and I believe in President Trump, but there are serious reasons to just exercise a note of caution before we just get on the rah-rah train, alright?” she continued. “I have done that enough times in my career as a Fox News anchor to have been embarrassed enough to know I’m gonna stay on the yellow light for this. I’m not in the green light territory. I’m not in the red light territory either. But I am staying in the yellow light territory for now.”
Acknowledging the “strategic advantages” with regard to China, Cuba and Russia, Kelly went on, “But I have seen what happens when you cheerlead, unabashedly, U.S. intervention in foreign countries thinking it’s for our good and for the national — the international good only to wind up with what we’ve called quagmire in places like Iraq, not to mention Libya.”
“We’re not great at going into these foreign countries, decapitating them at the leadership level, and then saying either we’re going to steer the country to a better place or it’s going to steer itself. Either one. They just, nine times out of 10, they don’t work out well,” the host argued before adding concern about potential “boots on the ground” as the mother of three teenage children.
Kelly also took umbrage with the fact that South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham (R), a known war hawk who was seen on Fox News over the weekend wearing a hat that read “Make Iran Great Again,” had been traveling with the president and vocalizing his own favor for Trump’s actions in Venezuela.
“The fact that Lindsey Graham is standing next to him, going, ‘Yes! Yes!’ is enough for me to know I don’t want it,” said the commentator. “I’m concerned. All of the neocons have been celebrating this whole thing like it’s, you know, Christmas in January, and that alone gives me pause. When Lindsey Graham is cheering, I’m not.”
Amid feuding among certain voices on the right, responses on social media were apprehensive about Kelly’s coverage, especially in light of her own seeming admission to toeing an alleged company line at Fox News.
I’ve been watching her for years(recently I quit) and she’s always said that she felt like she could say what she wanted while at Fox. I don’t get why the opposite view now?

What is she saying about herself? I just watched her segment and felt a bit of a cringe when she admitted this – should I trust her now?
