Mixed messages and continued division from a former first lady had her facing scrutiny on social media about “tough times” and folks “‘feeling a little bit anxious and uncertain.”
Only days after her husband, former President Barack Obama, had shared a Christmas photo of her, their daughters and a number of small children dressed as elves, Michelle Obama retreated to the “Happy Holidays” schtick of culture wars past. Yet that was only an honorable mention in the post as Obama, who infamously experienced pride in her country for the first time after her husband’s political success, promoted a negative outlook presumably on the future under President-elect Donald Trump.
“Happy Holidays, everyone! I know it’s been a difficult few months for so many of us — and that folks are feeling a little bit anxious and uncertain,” she began the short video that included clips of people going about their daily lives, including a blue-haired woman riding the subway.
“But even during these tough times, there are plenty of reasons to stay hopeful,” contended the former first lady as she proceeded to promote the work of the Obama Foundation.”And I see so much of that through the people we work with through the Obama Foundation. On the South Side of Chicago, the Obama Presidential Center continues to rise as a symbol of hope and community. And all around the world, our Leaders programs are welcoming changemakers and building up networks of dedicated young leaders.”

As previously reported, Obama’s biased claims about the presidential center disregarded how it had left the community upset and even displaced as increased property values pushed many out of their own neighborhood.
Equally disregarded was her own impact on heightening division in the country as she had said in an interview in Jan. 2024, “I am terrified about what could possibly happen. Because our leaders matter. Who we select, who speaks for us, who holds that bully pulpit. It affects us in ways that, sometimes I think people take for granted. You know, the fact that people think that government — ‘eh, does it really even do anything?’ — And I’m like, oh my God, does government do everything for us, and we cannot take this democracy for granted. And sometimes, I worry that we do. Those are things that keep me up.”
Of course, not everything was anxiety-filled for the wealthy former first lady who has continued profiting in the years since her husband left the White House. This included a book promotion interview that had her reportedly refusing to talk politics as the gaslighting on Trump had dried up for many after failing to sway the outcome of the election.
In addition to sharing their own messages of hope about what would come when the once and future commander-in-chief returned to the Oval Office, reactions to Obama’s take blasted her latest message of division.
I’m not anxious at all!

No, we’re all pretty happy that Obama’s not running the country anymore. At least in 20 days it will stop.
