Mike Lindell contradicts Lara Trump’s CPAC call to ’embrace’ early voting: ‘Wrong!’

A hardline was drawn on election strategy as one former contender to lead the RNC called a potential future co-chair as “wrong!”

The Conservative Political Action Conference and South Carolina voters were in accord Saturday as former President Donald Trump picked up his seventh CPAC straw poll win and his latest primary victory. However, supporters were in disagreement when it came to general election plans regarding early voting.

After the president had voiced his support for his own daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, to be co-chair of the Republican National Committee with Ronna McDaniel stepping down, the continued support of the “Bank Your Vote” plan was blasted by MyPillow founder and CEO Mike Lindell.

Speaking Saturday at CPAC, the entrepreneur touted his continuing efforts toward a same-day voting initiative as he asserted, “The RNC, yeah, they got a lot of problems. But one of the things that they did do was when I ran for RNC chair last year — what came out of that — this August the RNC passed a resolution: paper ballots, hand counting, same day voting, no early voting. And by the way, anybody that tells you to vote early is wrong! You vote same day. I’m telling you that gets harder for them to cheat.”

The businessman’s take came days after Trump herself had made a pitch on stage that supported getting as many people to the polls ahead of election day, “as long as they’re voting the right way,” as possible.

“The days of waiting until Election Day to vote are over,” she argued. “We have to encourage everyone who can legally vote to go do so as soon as they legally can. We need so many votes banked for Donald J. Trump that we’re not playing catch up on Election Day. You go vote and then you take your neighbor, your friend, your dentist — heck, I don’t care — someone you met on the street, as long as they’re voting the right way, every single day up to and on Nov. 5, because this November every single legal vote matters.”

Trump, whom the president had backed to co-chair alongside North Carolina Republican Party Chairman Michael Whatley, had contended, “What happened in 2020 cannot and will not ever happen again. We must adapt and we must fight fire, not with fire, but with dynamite. We must, and we will, build the strongest, most secure election operation that this party has ever seen. That’s how we have to do this, folks.”

“But we got to adapt a little. As Republicans, I get it. We like to go vote on Election Day. It’s exciting to be a part of that day. It’s exciting to fill out the ballot for the future leader of our country. Heck, you even get a little sticker and then you can take a photo and post it on social media,” she had said. “I know it’s very fun. But the truth is, if we want to compete with the Democrats, we cannot wait until Election Day. If we want to compete and win, we must embrace early voting.”

Lindell, who had only received four votes during his 2023 effort to be elected RNC chair, told Newsweek in early February that he would not make another attempt while focusing on his paper ballot initiative and that he was backing Delaware’s GOP chair, Julianne Murray.

“I am not running as I have to finish my efforts to get this country to paper ballots hand counted! The RNC should pick anyone that the election platforms are their main focus!” he said via text message. “Julianne Murray would be the best pick for the RNC chair.”
