Mike Pence AGAIN ducks question on if he’d pardon Trump when cornered by Chuck Todd

Former Vice President Mike Pence continues to refuse to provide a direct answer on a question that will dog him for the duration of his White House candidacy, once again ducking when the subject of whether he would pardon his ex-boss if he is elected to the presidency next year.

Pence was put on the spot by NBC’s Chuck Todd on if he would issue a pardon to former President Donald J. Trump, the current 2024 Republican party frontrunner who is facing being thrown into a prison cell for the remainder of his life by the Biden regime, the equivalent of a death sentence for the ex-POTUS if he’s convicted on charges under the Espionage Act.

Pence sat down with the longtime host of NBC Sunday morning flagship “Meet the Press” for a wide-ranging interview on Friday and the topic of Trump inevitably came up with his indictment by Special Counsel Jack Smith, Attorney General Merrick Garland’s hand-picked attack dog who the former president has referred to as a “thug” among other unflattering descriptions.

“You have been asked a few times whether you would pardon the former president if he’s convicted and if you were the president, would you?” Todd asked.

“Well, I just think the question is, is premature,” Pence answered, pausing before he added, “I mean, honestly, Chuck, I’ve pardoned people who were found guilty of a crime..,” reaching back into his days as governor of Indiana.

“What’s your – what is your bar?” Todd followed up. “What was your bar for a pardon?”

“Well, let me say first and foremost, I don’t know why some of my competitors in the Republican primary presume the president will be found guilty,” responded Pence. “Look, all we know is what, what the president has been accused of in the indictment. We don’t know what his defense is. We don’t know if this will even go to trial. It could be subject to a motion to dismiss. We don’t know what the verdict will be of the jury.”

“If you were President Biden would you pardon him right now?” Todd asked.

“I just think this whole matter is incredibly divisive for the country,” Trump’s ex-veep ducked and dodged,  “And, look, I – I just think at the end of the day, it’s – it is saddening to me that we are now in this moment.”

For Pence, it was a far less contentious Q & A with Todd, who has well established his reputation as an establishment political suckler, than it was a few days earlier with nationally syndicated radio host Clay Travis who didn’t pull any punches with the former vice president, setting off fireworks during their interview.

“Look, we either believe in our judicial processes or we don’t…,” a prickly Pence told the Outkick founder, obviously not pleased that he was being grilled.

“What I’m hearing is you’re fine with Donald Trump being put in prison, sir,” Travis said. “That to me, since you were his vice president, feels pretty disrespectful.”

“I believe that anyone who puts themselves over the Constitution should never be President of the United States and anyone who asks someone else to put them over the Constitution should never be President of the United States again,” Pence said of Trump in fiery remarks during his campaign launch address in Des Moines earlier this month, an example of how badly that the relationship between the two has deteriorated since the 2020 election.
