A preprofessional, community-owned women’s soccer team based out of Minnesota has signed a transgender player, but there’s a weird catch.
The team, the Minnesota Aurora FC, announced on Monday the recruitment of goalkeeper Isaac Ranson, a woman who claims to be a man. So in essence, the team has recruited a woman. Except, much like said women, the team has decided to pretend she’s a dude.
“Aurora believes that everyone deserves an opportunity to play soccer, and we are glad that we are able to provide a safe environment for Isaac to continue his stellar career,” Aurora club President Saara Hassoun told the Minnesota Star Tribune. “Our players, coaches, and organization are unified in welcoming Isaac to Aurora.”
Ranson previously played for the Cal State Fullerton Titans women’s soccer team:

According to the Tribune, Ranson’s impressive record with the Titans caught the attention of Aurora’s coaches.
When Ranson in turn researched Aurora, she discovered that its values “align a lot with all my values.”
“For me, it’s very important to find an inclusive team, community, organization,” she told the Tribune.
That said, she expects the team to lose some fans.
“It can become a topic that is discussed a lot, especially nowadays,” she said, referring to her transgender identity. “I mean, [a team] has got to be ready to lose some fans over it, sadly, but … [the Aurora] have just been very supportive of who I am as a person and a player.”
The irony is that pro-trans activists are furious because, by playing for a team that matches her gender, Ranson is screwing up their goal of infiltrating and invading the teams of the opposite gender:

Ari Drennen, the pro-trans activist who posted the tweet above, is a far-left smear merchant previously affiliated with the leftist propaganda network known as Media Matters.

Conservatives, meanwhile, weren’t surprised by Ranson winding up on a women’s team.
“Biological women aren’t going to join a men’s team. Even on testosterone she couldn’t compete with men,” one conservative commentator noted on the social media platform X.
“This is why ‘trans men’ aren’t trying to join men’s teams. And ‘trans woman’ are forcing their way into women’s sports and destroying it. Biology rules,” they added.
Their point was that women who pretend to be men seem a whole lot less enthusiastic about competing against men than men who pretend to be women competing against women.
