Miranda Devine calls out Dems’ cycle of stirring up racism to gain power: ‘It’s about time we stop falling for their hoaxes’

Diving into the “soft bigotry” employed by Democrats, journalist Miranda Devine tore into the left’s behavior, including the latest “breathless” excuse to malign President Donald Trump.

Heading into the weekend, an unforced error from the president’s social media team provided ample cover for detractors to avoid talking about election integrity and instead accuse the chief executive of racism. While Trump wisely steered clear of an apology while condemning the brief, unrelated clip that was included in a Truth Social Post, the coverage cycle pushed by Democrats found Devine insisting it was “time we stop falling for their hoaxes.”

After reminding how leftists unsurprisingly deemed the clip featuring the faces of former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama imposed on apes “racist,” a position that some on the right — like South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott — had willingly echoed, the journalist called out corporate media coverage.

“The New York Times’ rapid response squad went into overdrive, shoehorning the outrage into its silly new ‘Autocracy Index’ measuring how close Trump is to turning the country into Nazi Germany,” she wrote. “‘What motivates Trump? The answer is simple: racism,’ one opinionista asserted. The storm in a teacup helps the resistance media maintain the fiction that Republicans, especially the MAGA variety, are irredeemably racist, while Democrats are paragons of virtue when it comes to defending minorities.”

“The truth is the very opposite,” insisted Devine, who proceeded to call out the narrative of congressional Democrats and other high-ranking figures in the party who avoided addressing the concerns of election integrity in Trump’s social media post as they continued to refer to proposed voter ID laws as “Jim Crow 2.0.”

For his part, the president has refused to play the game of corporate media, noting that he hadn’t made a mistake when he’d passed along the election-focused video after only viewing the first part, before going on to tell NBC News in his interview for the Super Bowl that Democrat opposition to voter ID is “Because they want to cheat in elections.”

Trump also took to Truth Social early Sunday and posted, “America’s Elections are Rigged, Stolen, and a Laughingstock all over the World. We are either going to fix them, or we won’t have a Country any longer. I am asking all Republicans to fight for the following: SAVE AMERICA ACT!”

The president detailed that the legislation would require ID to vote, proof of citizenship to register to vote, and restrict mail-in voting to those with legitimate need.

“That’s it in a nutshell,” added Devine who called out Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (NY), former Vice President Kamala Harris, New York Governor Kathy Hochul and Maryland Rep. Jamie Raskin by name. “they want us to believe that minority voters — and women — are somehow so dumb and incompetent that they don’t know how to procure identification to carry out a basic civil duty.”

“The only conceivable reason to register ineligible voters is to harvest their fraudulent votes, something Democrats assure us never happens, even while it does,” she wrote before citing numerous black pedestrians in East Harlem who had once told Ami Horowitz how absurd it was to suggest they didn’t have or couldn’t acquire ID.

“The soft bigotry of low expectations among Democrats accords with a 2019 paper in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology that found liberals dumb down their language and present as less competent when speaking to black audiences, while conservatives don’t change the way they speak,” wrote Devine who boiled down the rationale of the left by contending, “The real reason Democrats foment racial division is as a divide-and-conquer strategy to seize political power — and keep it forever. It’s about time we stop falling for their hoaxes.”
