Mitt Romney sports cringeworthy ‘Mr. Pfizer’ Halloween costume

Fittingly, Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) and his wife jumped aboard the “Tayvis” bandwagon for Halloween, with the liberal Republican dressing up as “Mr. Pfizer” himself, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce while his wife dressed up as pop diva Taylor Swift.

Ann Romney sported blonde locks, sunglasses, and a cheerleading outfit reminiscent of Swift’s 2014 music video for Shake it Off.

The milquetoast senator shared a photo of the two on social media, along with a caption quoting from Swift’s 2008 song Love Story: “It’s a love story, baby, just say yes!”

He was holding a football just in case people might not realize they were emulating the celebrity couple the NFL can’t seem to get enough of, given the league’s steady promotion of the two.

Kelce was just in the news for plugging the COVID-19 vaccine in a Pfizer commercial, the audacious decision prompting future Hall of Fame QB and pal Aaron Rodgers to dub him Mr. Pfizer and challenge him to a debate — Rodgers, who is notably anti-vaccine, offered to let Kelce have Dr. Anthony Fauci in his corner while he would go with Robert  F. Kennedy Jr.

The irony of Mrs. Romney’s choice of attire is that the Chiefs got spanked on Sunday by the hapless Denver Broncos and the hometown Broncos played Shake it Off over the PA system as Kelce and his teammates beat a retreat to the locker room.

While you might suspect Romney would avoid any events centered around dogs given the infamous report during his failed 2012 presidential run that he put the family dog in a carrier on the roof of their car for a 12-hour trip, the senator filled in for fellow moderate Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC), who had to miss his biannual Halloween party for dogs at the U.S. Capitol.

“Unfortunately I have COVID and won’t be able to kick off today’s Bipawtisan Howl-o-ween Dog Parade,” Tillis tweeted. “But believe me, it will all work out. I know the perfect person for the job…”

Tillis shared a photo of Romney dressed up as Ted Lasso.

“Honored to lead today’s Bipawtisan Howl-o-ween Dog Parade! And praying for a speedy recovery for my friend, Sen. Thom Tillis,” Romney replied.
