Mob of thugs brutalize two white people in Cincinnati, crickets from media over hate crime

A viral video of a brutal attack on two white people by a mob of mostly black assailants in downtown Cincinnati sparked outrage from social media users but has largely been ignored by the mainstream media, which would not have been the case if the races were reversed.

The incident took place at the intersection of Elm and Fourth Streets on Friday night near the Cincinnati Music Festival, with the video showing a white male as he is chased and then punched multiple times before falling to the ground as more thugs rush in and begin kicking him, including a woman who stomps on his head. The beating goes on for nearly a minute.

After the dazed victim is helped to his feet, a white woman in a flowery black dress is seen coming to his aid and is then sucker punched by a black woman who rushed in on her blind side before another man finishes her off with a haymaker. She is then seen bloodied and lying motionless on the ground as the camera moves in for a close-up.

It is unclear what may have precipitated the violence, although one person is heard saying, “My man’s drunk.” Cincinnati Chief of Police Teresa Theetge said that the incident was “not connected in any way” to the music festival.

Another video circulating on social media shows what is said to be a third white person being attacked by the mob, which was also posted to X.

“The behavior displayed is nothing short of cruel and absolutely unacceptable,” Theetge said in a statement. “Our investigative team is working diligently to identify every individual involved in causing harm. It’s also important to clarify: this was a sudden dispute between individuals following a verbal altercation.”

Cincinnati Fraternal Order of Police President Ken Kober condemned the violent attack, also slamming those who recorded the beating instead of jumping in to break it up.

“The violence this video shows downtown is disgusting,” he told WLWT. “What’s equally disgusting is those who chose to watch and record instead of calling 911, attempting to defuse the situation, or render aid. I have full faith in the Central Business Section Investigators; they will make arrests in the near future. It will then be the responsibility of the court system to hold these violent thugs accountable.”

Republican Ohio gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy called for state Democrats to condemn the violence.

“Reckless violence has no place in Ohio. Restoring law & order on our streets shouldn’t be a partisan issue. I invite @amyactonoh & other Democrat leaders in our state to join us in condemning this kind of violence and supporting stronger law enforcement in our cities,” Ramaswamy wrote.

Social media users also reacted to the vicious beating and the media’s double standard.

U.S. Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights at the U.S. Department of Justice Harmeet Dhillon said that her department will be monitoring the local response to the violence.

“Our federal hate crimes laws apply to ALL Americans. We @CivilRights will monitor closely how local authorities handle this attack,” she wrote in a post to X on Sunday. “Nobody in our great nation should be the victim of such a crime, and where race is a motivation, federal law may apply.”
