Momentum builds: DeSantis scores key endorsement from GOP governor for ‘dogged conviction’

In the battle for the 2024 Republican party nomination, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis just scored the endorsement of a fellow conservative GOP governor who cited his leadership during the COVID crisis as the key reason for his support.

On Saturday, the Sunshine State Republican who is seeking the chance to go head-to-head against top COVID authoritarian Joe Biden, king of the jab mandates, in next year’s election, traveled to Tulsa, OK where he was greeted by an enthusiastic crowd and given the political blessing by Governor Kevin Stitt who like DeSantis, has been fighting to roll back the “woke” left’s cultural revolution.

“I am officially 100% endorsing Ron DeSantis for president — and we’re going to win it in Oklahoma!” Stitt said at the special event that came days after the current GOP frontrunner, former President Donald J. Trump was indicted under the Espionage Act of 1917 over the “boxes hoax” centering around classified material stored at Mar-a-Lago, an unprecedented action that was condemned by the Florida governor.

“As fellow Governors during COVID, DeSantis did not surrender states’ rights and individual liberties over to groupthink,” Gov. Stitt said. “In this election cycle, Oklahomans will remember that DeSantis was one of the few who never backed down in the face of adversity, because DeSantis operated with dogged conviction and shared our values for a limited government and free country.”

“To deliver these same results all across America and unwind the disastrous liberal mandates of the Biden administration is going to demand a candidate who can win and keep winning as a two-term president. I am confident that leader is Ron DeSantis,” the Sooner State governor said.

Images of the event that were posted to Twitter show an overflow crowd that gathered to hear DeSantis speak, a sign of his growing support that comes despite not having the national name recognition that Trump does and is solely a result of his policies and successful handling of the pandemic during which he protested the state’s most vulnerable residents and the state’s economy while not stomping on the civil liberties of Floridians like Democrats who presided over the lockdown states did.

“In Florida and Oklahoma, we stand up for freedom — freedom to raise your family without radical ideology being crammed down your throat; freedom to worship and live your faith as you see fit; freedom to run your business and control your finances without corporate activists injecting a woke ideology into the marketplace,” DeSantis wrote on Twitter. “We are on a mission to ensure that freedom prevails across the land.”

In addition to Stitt, DeSantis received the endorsement of former congressman and NASA administrator Jim Bridenstine (R-OK) who he also thanked for his support.

“The weaponization of federal law enforcement represents a mortal threat to a free society. We have for years witnessed an uneven application of the law depending upon political affiliation,” DeSantis wrote on Twitter after the news of Trump’s indictment broke. “Why so zealous in pursuing Trump yet so passive about Hillary or Hunter?”

“The DeSantis administration will bring accountability to the DOJ, excise political bias and end weaponization once and for all,” he pledged.
