‘Mortified’ RFK Jr. apologizes after private convo with Trump is leaked and shared by his son

A now-deleted video of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. speaking by phone with former President Donald Trump prompted an online apology from the Independent presidential candidate.

A “mortified” RFK Jr. apologized to Trump in a message on X addressing the leaked video footage of a private call between the White House hopefuls that his son, Bobby Kennedy III, posted online.

“I’m a firm believer that these sorts of conversations should be had in public,” the younger Kennedy wrote in the post, explaining Trump was on the phone “giving his real opinion to my dad about vaccinating kids.”

He also took a shot at Senator JD Vance (R-OH), newly named as Trump’s running mate as he seemed to have some beef with Trump’s choosing “JD ‘fire all the unvaccinated nurses’ Vance” over “a unity ticket.”

Some speculated that the dig at Vance was over a 2022 tweet in which he commented on firing nurses “who refuse to get the vaccine.” The tweet was hit with Community Notes that noted Vance’s sarcasm.

In the Kennedy video clip that is still being circulated on X, Trump can be heard talking to RFK Jr. on Sunday, the day after the assassination attempt on his life at a Pennsylvania rally.

“Something’s wrong with that whole system. And it’s the doctors, you find. Remember I said I want to do small doses? Small doses. When you feed a baby, Bobby, a vaccination that is like 38 different vaccines, and it looks like it’s meant for a horse, not a… you know 10-pound or 20-pound baby,” Trump said.

“It looks like you’re giving you should be giving a horse this. And do you ever see the size of it, right? You know, it’s just massive. And then you see the baby all of a sudden starting to change radically. I’ve seen it too many times. And then you hear that it doesn’t have an impact, right? But you and I talked about that a long time ago,” he continued.

The topic shifted to the two men potentially working together at some point in the future.

“Anyway, I would love you to do stuff. And I think it would be so good for you and so big for you. And we’re going to win. We’re going to win. We’re way ahead of the guy,” he said, evidently referring to President Joe Biden who called Trump soon after he was grazed by the bullet from the would-be assassin.

“He called me. And he said: ‘How did you choose to move to the right?’” Trump recounted. “I just turned my head to show the chart. And something rapped me. It felt like a giant… like the world’s largest mosquito. And it was. It was a bullet going around. You know, what do they call that, an AR-15 or something? That was a big gun. That was a pretty tough gun, right?”

Bobby Kennedy III ended up deleting the video but it was already out there on social media.

His father followed up with an apology.

“When President Trump called me I was taping with an in-house videographer. I should have ordered the videographer to stop recording immediately,” Kennedy wrote. “I am mortified that this was posted. I apologize to the president.”

Kennedy denied he was planning to drop out of the race, explaining on X that he and Trump, who reportedly met up in Milwaukee at the Republican National Convention, spoke about “national unity.”

The Independent candidate also gave a shout-out to Trump who called for Biden to finally give RFK Jr. Secret Service protection that he has been requesting.
