Mother spent $1,200 on security for anti-indoctrination event just so she could speak safely

A Rhode Island mother who’s against LGBT indoctrination was reportedly forced to spend $1,200 out of pocket for police protection before she could hold an event at a public library last Monday about said indoctrination.

Why? Because of the mob that left-wing activists had sicced on her.

“I organized this event but I became the target of this onslaught on social media. Rhode Island legislators and college professors began defaming me and bullying me. They made calls for people to harass me and the library,” Nicole Solas of the Independent Women’s Network said to the Daily Mail.

“The Cranston Police Department then received intel that violent protesters were going to be attending — people with a history of violence and prior arrests. The police said I could not host the event unless I had five police details because it was a threat to public safety.”

Solas added, “Everyone who attended had to be checked for weapons and explosives. My car was also hidden when I attended the library. It ended up being this very intense experience when it was supposed to be community outreach and a civil and open dialogue.”

The effort to defame her was led in part by local media, which went out of its way to frame Solas as someone who’s opposed to the so-called “rights of transgender youth” and as someone who spouts so-called “hate speech.”

Local media even questioned library director Ed Garcia about this alleged “hate speech.”

“Asked whether the library was tacitly endorsing hate speech, Garcia said the law isn’t clear on what constitutes hate speech,” The Providence Journal reported Monday.

The outlet then proceeded to quote from a litany of radical LGBT activists who believe the library is indeed endorsing so-called hate speech, including Wendy Becker of LGBTQ Action Rhode Island.

“The people who are speaking are anti-transgender activists. Their goal is to stir things up, to promulgate transphobic beliefs. Their argument is trans people don’t exist. This is hate speech that causes harm,” Baker said to the paper.

Meanwhile, a coalition of various far-left groups released a joint press release slamming the library for “hosting an event fueled with anti-trans hatred, even though it violates their own policy against hate speech.”

“We would like the Cranston Public Library to explain how they are providing a safe and inclusive space for all visitors including trans young people while hosting a speaker who proclaims that transgender kids do not exist. How are transgender people supposed to feel safe in this library before, during and after this event?” activist Jaye Watts said in the press release.

“The library is a trusted public institution that disseminates information; people are going to assume the information from these speakers is true. Our public libraries cannot be in the business of legitimizing hateful, false speech,” activist Ethan Huckle added.

But Solas isn’t pushing hate. She and her allies are, instead, raising valid concerns about children being indoctrinated into believing they’re transgender and thus need transgender surgery.

“Schools are planting seeds in children’s heads to lead them to surgery if they are brainwashed enough,” Solas said at the event Monday, according to The Boston Globe.

Meanwhile, Solas’ guest speaker, Chris Elston, also pushed back on the claim that they’re denying the existence of transgender people.

Listen:

Note what he wrote above about the “majority of children” desisting. This is factually accurate.

“The phenomenon of transgender children ‘growing out of’ their transgender identity by the time they are adolescents or adults is called ‘desistance’ by gender researchers,” according to PBS member station KQED.

“For decades, follow-up studies of transgender kids have shown that a substantial majority — anywhere from 65 to 94 percent — eventually ceased to identify as transgender.”

But because facts such as these offend far-left LGBT activists, you’re not allowed to mention them, lest you be harassed and accused of spouting so-called “hate speech.”

But according to Solas, this is bull.

“It’s not hate speech to be exposing medical abuse of children. This is what we believe, Chris and I, that this is greatest child abuse scandal in history,” she said to the Daily Mail.
