MSNBC eviscerated both on and off screen for whitewashing terror: ‘Who’s writing the scripts? Hamas?’

MSNBC and its news hosts were raked over the coals for whitewashing the atrocities unleashed by Hamas over the weekend, essentially blaming Israel for its mistreatment of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

NewsNation host Dan Abrams leveled a blistering attack on the likes of Mehdi Hasan and Ali Velshi as well as Ayman Mohyeldin and the network for allowing the commentary that was nothing more than “shameful pandering” to the far-left viewers.

Abrams began by noting the left-leaning media’s coverage of the unfolding events in the Middle East by calling out the “whataboutisms and false equivalencies” used in an effort to “defend” the atrocities committed against Israeli citizens, as well as Americans caught up in the fight.

“The tenor of the commentary from numerous hosts, particularly on MSNBC, has been to try to shift the blame away from the terrorists and to the supposed real victims, right?” he continued, railing against host Joy Reid for her empathy for the “suffering of the people of Gaza at the hand of the big, bad Israelis.”

But that, he argued, was not even the worst of it.

He went on to highlight a weekend clip featuring Ayman Mohyeldin’s “utterly bizarre victim blaming” when he contended that the Hamas attack was due to “failed policies” from Israel and the United States.

“Right. It’s Israel’s fault. It’s the United States fault,” Abrams mocked after playing the video clip. “The policies that somehow justify or even explain the slaughter, rapes, and kidnapping of innocent civilians. And that ridiculous commentary set the tone for much of MSNBC’s coverage throughout the weekend, where many hosts seemed determined to say, ‘Well, what about the Palestinians?’”

Abrams continued to eviscerate the network as he pointed out the hateful commentary from Hasan and Velshi’s coverage of events, slamming them for trying to “drum up sympathy for the terrorists.”

“Innocent women and children brutalized in the streets. Families forced to watch their loved ones killed. Dozens and dozens of innocent hostages being held captive,” Abrams angrily said after the clip of Velshi. “He wants American politicians to better appreciate both sides.”

Velshi, who once worked for Al-Jazeera, was pleased that the government of Qatar issued a statement holding “Israel alone responsible” for the attacks.

Abrams raked host Mehdi Hasan as well for jumping “on board the both-sides train” as he went to a clip from MSNBC’s weekend coverage.

“Notice how all of a sudden context and nuance are important for MSNBC, But when it’s a story that fits their political agenda — like, I don’t know, an officer-involved shooting — context and nuance go out the window,” Abrams said.

“I mean, this is worse than just a double standard. Look, this is not a both-sides story, period… Since Saturday, MSNBC has made 441 references to Hamas militants or ‘the fighters.’ They are terrorists! Full stop! And MSNBC’s pathetic refusal to call them that is just shameful pandering to their far-left audience,” he exclaimed.

Abrams also noted that the MSNBC coverage and commentary on the Israel attack got so “absurd” that one of the network’s own guests called them out on the air.

“While I am sad and trying to cope, I’ll be honest: I am angry,” Anti-Defamation League director Jonathan Greenblatt told “Morning Joe” host Jonathan Lemire on Monday.

“I am angry with the world that allowed the dehumanization of Israelis and sanitized the terrorism of Hamas. I must say I love this show, and I love this network, but I’ve got to ask, who’s writing the scripts? Hamas?” he asked.

“The people who did this, they are not fighters, Jonathan. They are not militants. And I’m looking right at the camera: They are terrorists,” Greenblatt continued.

“It is a barbarian who rapes and brutalizes women, who kills children in front of their parents and then brings them over to Gaza, who literally we’ve heard all these reports and we know these aren’t just reports. These were filmed gleefully by the barbarians who committed these grotesque crimes,” he said.

“So, look, you know, when we say, ‘oh, this was an escalation, it was bound to happen.’ I am sorry. This was a massacre that was pre-planned. This was not destined to happen. It is not normal to shoot teenagers in the back, hundreds of them,” Greenblatt said, calling out the biased reporting.

“So I just think, like, guys get this story right and all these pictures of like, you know, missiles or the rubble in Gaza, please talk to the Israeli mothers and fathers who lost their children. Talk to the grandchildren whose grandparents were seized as hostages. And please stop calling this a retaliation,” he said. “This is a defensive measure against an organization that is committed to one thing, killing Jews, not a peaceful resolution of a conflict, but murdering Jews.”
