MSNBC points out Biden is ‘significantly lagging’ behind Trump in one telling donor demographic

With eight months left until the nation heads to the polls to decide the next president, MSNBC is noticing what could be a significant problem for the Biden campaign.

It would appear that President Joe Biden isn’t whipping up as much passion among small donors as former President Donald Trump. MSNBC pointed out that donations amounting $200 or less are “significantly lagging behind the Trump campaign” and could be indicative of “some of the issues Biden may be having.”

Watch:

The stark difference between donation numbers from Biden’s 2020 campaign may indicate that even Democrat voters are ready to move on from the octogenarian. Biden is currently being marketed by the party as the only thing standing between America and the total destruction of democracy, though it’s unclear if that ploy is working among independents and undecided voters.

Despite this information, the Biden team is still taking shots at the former president over his financial woes.

“Donald Trump is weak and desperate – both as a man and a candidate for President. He spent the weekend golfing, the morning comparing himself to Jesus, and the afternoon lying about having money he definitely doesn’t have,” Biden campaign spokesperson James Singer said on Monday.

This marks a departure from the White House’s previous tactic of steering clear of commenting on Trump’s legal problems. It would appear that they are seeing how such digs will play with Americans, many of whom believe the former president is being unfairly persecuted.

Social media users were quick to weigh in on the reasons Biden is not appealing to small donors:
