MSNBC trots out Mary Trump’s brother as damage control after Arlington scam blows up

Selective storytelling included MSNBC dispatching a Trump family member to re-spin the “suckers and losers” hoax after the vice president face-planted over the Arlington National Cemetery scam.

A week after former President Donald Trump honored the 13 service members killed three years earlier during the disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal, corporate media continued to cry “scandal” for the benefit of Vice President Kamala Harris.

In seeking to justify the White House hopeful’s hoax-filled line of attack on her rival, MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace turned to the president’s nephew, Fred Trump III.

During a segment reminiscent of an informercial aimed at selling his book, Trump leaned heavily on his account of his uncle’s deferment from military service after the host had reintroduced the “suckers and losers” hoax, the president’s negative statements about then-Arizona Sen. John McCain (R) and other purported anecdotes peddled to present the GOP leader as having anything other than the utmost respect for the men and women in uniform.

“We spoke the last time we were here about how I had the honor of meeting Senator McCain,” said Trump on MSNBC’s “Deadline: White House” a he used the lawmaker to belittle his uncle. “This is a genuine hero. Let’s make no mistake about it. The fact that Donald called him, in essence, a ‘loser,’ I don’t get it. But anyone who is disabled or anyone who he deems lesser than him is a loser, which, okay, that’s just the way he is. That ain’t gonna change.”

“Why do you think people in the military support him?” asked Wallace, teeing up Trump for another attack. “I have no idea.”

“And I know many people who are in the military, and I had the pleasure of speaking on an interview with National Defense Radio, which goes out to the armed services. And I told the truth. I basically told this story and I said that he just doesn’t give a sh*t about them,” he said. “He just doesn’t. It’s the great ‘Godfather II,’ one of the last scenes when Sonny says, ‘Country ain’t your blood, kid.’ And Michael Corleone says, ‘No, I don’t believe that.’ Donald believes in Donald.”

Absent from the report was the fact that after Harris herself had used the ceremony for “playing politics,” rolling out the same tired hoaxes presented on MSNBC while spreading allegations of a confrontation at the cemetery over their photo policy, the Gold Star parents fired back at the vice president with statements of their own asserting she “should be ashamed and embarrassed” for failing to take responsibility for the deaths of their children.

Additionally, Wallace brushed aside the report that Harris and President Joe Biden had both been invited to the ceremony, a fact corroborated by a veteran of The Old Guard, Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton (R), who appeared on “Meet the Press” Sunday and confirmed that he had spoken with the families.

“He didn’t take campaign photos there. These families — Gold Star families — whose children died because of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’ incompetence, invited him to the cemetery, and they asked him to take those photos,” the senator explained. “You know who the families also invited? Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. Where were they? Joe Biden was sitting at a beach. Kamala Harris was sitting at her mansion in Washington, D.C. She was four miles away — ten minutes. She could’ve gone to the cemetery and honored the sacrifice of those young men and women, but she hasn’t.”

Summing up how many reacted to Trump’s attempt at dragging down his uncle, one user on social media wrote, “You ‘have no idea why people in the military support him’ because you have no idea what American values are.”
