Trump ally Elon Musk tore into John Bolton after he bashed President-elect Donald Trump’s pick for attorney general.
Appearing on NBC News this Wednesday, Bolton, who previously served as Trump’s national security adviser, complained about the president-elect’s decision to nominate former Rep. Matt Gaetz as attorney general.
Listen:
“It must be the worst nomination for a cabinet position in American history,” he began. “I think this is something that falls well outside the scope of deference that should be given to a president in nominating members of the senior team.”
“Gaetz is not only totally incompetent for this job, he doesn’t have the character. He is a person of moral turpitude, and notwithstanding how difficult it may be politically, this is a nomination the Republican Party should oppose,” he added.
NBC News host Kristen Welker then asked him whether he’s confident Senate Republicans will oppose his nomination.
“Well, I think a lot of people are going to be intimidated by Trump,” Bolton replied. “This is the way he governs, and I think it may never come to a vote on the floor if the new leadership in the Senate goes to the president [and] says, ‘you cannot endanger Republican senators by forcing them to vote in favor of this nomination.’ And if you don’t want to have a real internal party battle, this nomination needs to be withdrawn.”
Bolton later doubled down in a tweet:
Gaetz must be the worst nomination for a cabinet position in American history. This is something that falls well outside the proper scope of deference to a President nominating members of his senior team. Gaetz is not only totally incompetent for this job, he doesn’t have…

“Gaetz must be the worst nomination for a cabinet position in American history,” he wrote. “This is something that falls well outside the proper scope of deference to a President nominating members of his senior team.”
“Gaetz is not only totally incompetent for this job, he doesn’t have character or the civic virtue the Founding Fathers wanted. The Republican party should oppose this nomination,” he added.
Flash forward to Thursday, when Musk responded to Bolton’s complaints by blasting him as “a staggeringly dumb warmonger.”

Responding to Musk’s response, many critics also slammed Bolton.
“Why would anyone care what John Bolton thinks?” one wrote. “Bolton is a classic Establishment type who have allowed the Constitution, FREEDOM & Democracy to be Trashed to stop the American People supporting TRUMP!”
“Bolton is a neocon idiot. Matt is bright, young, ambitious and loyal to the MAGA movement,” another critic added.

The more the Left, the RINOs and warmonger hate Trump’s picks, the more I know they are the correct ones.

Hear me out. That’s not possible. The worst nomination for a Cabinet position would have to be Biden’s entire DEI cabinet of cluster-fcks.

It means Trump is over the target and that Matt Gaetz is the right man for the job. This will be a test for SML Thune to get Trump’s nominees approved or get out of town and let Trump make recess appointments.

Bolton, who personally flew to Europe to try to get a weapons inspector fired for disagreeing with him over starting the Iraq War. Bolton is an example of somebody that should never work in government again. He is a national security disaster.

Bolton famously endorsed neither Trump nor Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential race in order to deliver a “protest vote.”
“I had originally thought in 2020 that I’d write in Ronald Reagan to make the point even more effectively and maybe that’s what I’ll do this time,” he said on CNN in October. “I am not going to vote for either Harris or Trump. Neither one are qualified to be president.”
