Larry Myers Jr., who was featured on TLC’s “My 600-Pound Life” has died, reportedly passing away three days after his 49th birthday of a heart attack. His death serves as a sad reminder for those suffering from morbid obesity that the human body is simply not designed to handle such extreme weight.
Larry, whose nickname was “Mr. Buttermilk Biscuits,” appeared on an episode of the show that aired in January 2022. He said during a March 2022 interview with the Rickey Smiley Morning Show he was as heavy as 940 lbs. and that he gained back 200 lbs. after the show because he got depressed.
Larry’s cousin, Todd Darell, shared the news of his passing on Facebook on Saturday.
“Hey Facebook Family. It’s with great sorrow that we announce the passing of my dear cousin Larry Myers,” he wrote. “Many of you know him as Mr. Buttermilk Biscuits. If you can help us we would greatly appreciate it. Larry has fought the good fight. He has overcome some of the biggest Challenges he has ever had to face. Rest well Junior, you will be missed. Thanks and blessings to all. Please keep our family in your prayers.❤️️️.”
A GoFundMe page was set up to help bring the gospel singer home — only $1,067 has been raised in four days toward a stated goal of $35,000.
“From a small storefront church in his home town to the big stage of the Apollo theater, Larry always made himself available to sing at special events anytime anyone asked, most of the time free of charge. His struggle with weight gain/loss never dimmed his drive to show love and kindness to all he met,” the campaign description reads. “As a family we want to bring our beloved Larry home one more time so we can lay him to rest with dignity and respect. The cost to do so is more than we can handle and we are asking for your help. Thank you in advance for your kindness and your support.”
